We know what she is! She is a symbol of freedom and abolition and is fashioned after the Roman goddess of liberty, Libertas. There is no denying that.

In 1886, The Statue of Liberty was a symbol of democratic government and Enlightenment ideals as well as a celebration of the Union's victory in the American Civil War and the abolition of slavery. Edouard de Laboulaye, the French political thinker, U.S. Constitution expert, and abolitionist, who first proposed the idea of a great monument as a gift from France to the United States was a firm supporter of President Abraham Lincoln and his fight for abolition. Laboulaye saw abolition not only as a way to eliminate immorality, but also as a way to protest repressive tendencies in France

The mooslims oppress their women worse than we do, therefore there should be no complaints from feminists over here about denying reproductive rights, pay equity, physical and sexual violence plus harassment experienced at greater levels by women than men in the land of the free.

The wealthy minority of plantation owners who ran the state governments and were the driving force in the entire US economy, thanks to King Cotton during the days of the Antebellum South. Some of us history fans keep finding stories and factoids on subjects like the Civil War that we had assumed to be exhausted, and one I wasn't aware of until the book...and then the movie: Free State of Jones came out last year, was that half way through the War, the southern oligarchs had a unique method of buying theirs and their sons ways out of getting called up to fight: The Twenty Negro Law, which provided one draft amnesty for every 20 slaves owned by a plantation patriarch.

This law was the primary motivation for a number of uprisings against the draft that had to be suppressed in the South, and shockingly, the story of the Jones County, Mississippi Uprising was effectively erased from history, even though Jones County remained independent of the Confederacy through to the end of the Civil War. For many reasons, both south and north long afterwards had no incentives to mention the events.

Ever since, what gets called Civil War history is skewed along mythical narratives on both sides, and failure of the both the South and the North to come to terms completely with slavery, allowed modern systems of incarceration and forced work that have effectively turned many prison systems into corrupt, for-profit systems benefiting from unpaid labor today...in other words- Slavery!

And we could also draw straight lines to corporations freely able to use and abuse "illegal" migrant labor today as a cheap source of labor that has no health and safety rights and faces abuse by both employers and large numbers of whites who blame them directly for "taking away our jobs." That thinking also represents the way southern whites acted after slavery...continuing to allow the plantation oligarchy to run the "free" economy that left them dirt poor, just like the newly freed black slaves!

Helios is male and Athena is female and both are Titans. Tarter, Terrier and Talos are Titans and male and Aphrodite is the god of love and female and also a Titan. Medusa is also a Titan who pissed off Hera, wife of Zeus. Cronus and Rhea were the original man and wife Greek Gods who started it all.

The percentage of slave owners was 1.26% according to the 1860 Census. That does not fuel a country. Slavery built this country is a myth.
