Bartholdi would be rolling over in his grave regarding the Statue of Liberty being used for immigration. The Statue of Liberty is a symbol of "Liberty Enlightening the World." Bartholdi designed it to stand over the Suez Canal in Egypt as a lighthouse, thus the depiction of a fellah. It was still intended to be a lighthouse in New York on Bedloe’s Island. It was never able to produce adequate light and the island is too far inland for a lighthouse.

The poem by Lazarus was submitted by one of her friends after her death, and the poem and the Statue of Liberty have taken on lives of their own that neither Lazarus nor Bartholdi intended.
Then good for the Statue of Liberty.

Please define the "lives of their own" and explain why Bartholdi would be rolling in his grave.

You're taking a Muslim's word that the SOL is a Muslim woman?

Because the Egypt Carrying the Light to Asia had nothing to do with immigration or as a statue. Is is a lighthouse.

I would raze the Statue of Liberty to the ground because it was made in France and intended for Egypt but Egypt didn't want it.

You need to provide sources. You need to provide timelines. Everything I've read says you are going on the opinion of one person at the Smithsonian.
Thanks from Twisted Sister

Yep, either of these fellahs could be mistaken for the Statue of Liberty.

Put a torch in either's hand, and bingo you have the SOL.

Try again.

Those are alternative facts. Work on the statue offered to Egypt never commenced.

Check out these images of Greek Goddess. They seem to fit the SOL much better.

Top 10 ancient Greek goddesses
