Keystone pipeline won't have to be built using US steel

Whaaaaaa? Didn't Donald just say it would be?

He can't help himself. He's so accustomed to making deals and saying anything that will help. to make the deal.

I think most people here watched at least some of his address, and if you saw this, you probably remember it because it sounded pretty good, sounded right. Here's the lead in:
Oh, we're going to build a wall, don't worry about it. We're building the wall. We're building the wall. In fact, it's going to start soon. Way ahead of schedule. Way ahead of schedule. Way, way, way ahead of schedule.
Best speech he's ever given. His most presidential speech. A way, way, way good speech. Then later he said:
We have authorized the construction one day of the Keystone and Dakota Access pipeline and issued a new rule this took place while I was getting ready to sign I said who makes the pipes from the pipeline? Well, sir, comes from all over the world, isn't that wonderful? I said, nope, comes from the United States or we're not building it. American steel. If they want a pipeline in the United States, they're going to use pipe that's made in the United States. Do we agree?
Big cheers. Even I thought, well, right on Mr. President. And now, it turns out:
Keystone pipeline won't have to be built using US steel

The Keystone XL oil pipeline won't have to use American steel in its construction, despite what President Donald Trump says.

White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Friday that's due to language in a presidential directive Trump issued in January. The directive applies to new pipelines or those under repair. Sanders said it would be hard to do an about-face on Keystone because it's already under construction and the steel has been acquired.
Keystone pipeline won't have to be built using US steel - SFGate

Trump's "new rule," signed in January, specified that US steel must be used on new projects and repairs, and neither Keystone nor Dakota are new projects or repairs, and he knew that, but still he can't help himself and lied, "If they want a pipeline in the United States, they're going to use pipe that's made in the United States. Do we agree?" because he loves the sounds of people cheering him way, way, way more than he loves the truth.

He's a disgrace to our nation. It get worse every day.

At some point, Trump will lie for an effect in the moment once too often, and you're going to say, "Enough!!!" because you aren't stupid. You're under the spell of a dark dreamweaver, a master..

I keep giving him chances. Like in this example, when he said all pipelines were going to be constructed using US steel, I thought right on. But he's a master. I didn't think, at the time, about the fact that both pipelines are close to built. And that the steel for those pipelines was negotiated a while ago.

I got caught up in the spell. Keystone, Dakota, US steel only, rah rah rah. Trump plays people. I got played for a while, and it's happened more than this once. I'd love to believe him but he won't let me.

If it ends up that only a fraction is built with US steel or none at all. I am fine with it. Lets build the pipeline and move oil more efficiently. Lets employ people building the pipeline. Lets keep supply of oil up so gasoline prices do not creep up. Lets get the economy rolling.

Frankly, keystone pipeline is a fine engineering project: that's all what every free man and every free woman is interested in, respecting derivative natural right to economic freedom of Canadian industrialists that want to build it. If American steel is of necessary quality and low price, than American steel will undoubtedly be used in building keystone pipeline.

The pipeline project was started long before Trump became President. A large chunk of it has been built and materials already bought long before buy American steel came out. This is sort of a non story to rally the never Trumpers

That pipeline has nothing to do with gas prices. None. You have to be the biggest fucking idiot on the planet if you believe that. It is about giving a Canadian company easy access to port to sell their tar sands on the world market, and the kickbacks to the politicians in the US that facilitate it.

Were you born yesterday, a complicit player, or are you really that fucking stupid?
