Battle group sails to N. Korea? Nope

So after sabre rattling about the USS Carl Vinson carrier strike group being sent to N Korea to shake up Lil' Kimmy, I guess Trump, the paper tiger changed his mind.

Nothing to see here: US carrier still thousands of miles from Korea

WASHINGTON – For more than a week, media reports in the U.S. and around Asia routinely have mentioned the approach of the USS Carl Vinson carrier strike group, seemingly implying an attack on North Korea could be imminent. But a week after the U.S. announced the carrier and its escorts would leave Singapore, forego port calls in Australia and instead return to Korean waters, the carrier and its group had yet to head north.

Rather, the ships were actually operating several hundred miles south of Singapore, taking part in scheduled exercises with Australian forces in the Indian Ocean.

On Saturday – according to photographs released by the U.S. Navy – the carrier passed north through the Sunda Strait, the passage between the Indonesian islands of Sumatra and Java. It's about 3,500 miles from Korea.

U.S. Navy officials in Pearl Harbor and Washington declined to comment on the ship’s movements, other than to confirm the April 15 movement through the Sunda Strait. Off the record, several officials expressed wonderment at the persistent reports that the Vinson was already nearing Korea. “We’ve made no such statement,” said one official.

No one ever said where the group was at, just it was heading that way. Now, if you transit the Malacca straits toward Singapore, you are in fact heading toward the Sea of Japan. She did go south through the Sunda Strait (beautiful Islands and volcanoes!) but is now on course to head toward Sea of Japan. Now, what is interesting is the Nimitz strike group loitering off the coast of Oregon that some say has now turned westward. Did Trump say something about misdirection and no longer announcing to our enemies exactly what we are doing?

But on Saturday, a full week after the initial news release, the Navy posted a photograph showing the Carl Vinson transiting south through the Sunda Strait between the Indonesian islands of Sumatra and Java, about 3,500 miles southwest of the Korean peninsula.

As Defense News first reported on Monday, the strike force has been taking part in exercises with Australian forces in the Indian Ocean over the last week

It is now – really – steaming northward and is expected to arrive in the Sea of Japan sometime next week, U.S. officials said.

As I said in an earlier post going over the Equator puts sailors in battle mode because they have to suffer the indignity of many abuses to become a Shellback. I said USS Carl Vinson and other ships in the task force has to go over the Equator first. My ship went over the Equator in the Strait of Borneo and after that you are in the South China Sea headed for Vietnam. A right of passage for sailors and I will bet a dime against a donut that the CVAN is headed for the North Japan Sea and will really piss off Kim Jong Un.

I remember we actually deviated to go across the equator so some "contractors" could participate in the shell back ceremony. Personally I never did participate because I am not in the navy. Secondly I thought it was a waste of tax payers dollars to appease a bunch of self appointed as important government contractors.

Good, keep 'em guessing Mr Trump, no need to broadcast your business before hand like Mr Obama did.

He said that is what he was going to do. Also, the press is who fed the story. All Trump said was that a group was heading toward the Sea of Japan. The press literally made shit up after that.

Do you mean the kind of not telegraphing like he did in Syria?
Besides you can't keep the movements of a battle group secret from satellite surveillance.
North Korea may not have them but China sure a fuck does.
Trump’s intent is obvious.
