We've heard it all before from those who have no idea what they are spewing, but thrive on arrogance and parroting some evangelical twaddle.
You know as well as I do that the core principles of Jesus Christ were, (he stated them very clearly, again and again and again): feed the hungry, help the poor, heal the sick, give your money away. Jesus was an upstart progressive, bordering on a full blown socialist. As such, he became a bigger and bigger threat to the existing wealth centers of his ancient world as his influence grew.
AND apparently Jesus is still a threat to the conservative way of life. No amount of selectively chosen Bible verses is going to change the ministry of Christ. No amount of selective justification is going to change Christian doctrine. The tenets of Christianity are clear and simple--my turn to quote scriptures---and here's the Big FAT DEAL from the lips of Christ as written in Mark 12:30-31.
First commandment: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength". The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.”
Can you explain how that says support your neighbor for life, can you tell me where I have said do not feed the hungry, and help the poor,? you can't of course. I do not mind a helping hand for people, but when they become dependent which many have, that bothers me, at what point do we ask them to do for themselves. Now, tell me socialist Jesus was pro abortion, and pro homosexual, go on, go get some cherry picked scriptures.

Well I just wanted to be sure to get the point across without someone saying oh yeah well this translation says this. How about addressing the issue!

What issue ?
Atheists can be just as bad as Christians, but not worse.
Christians have created a situation that is almost impossible to adhere to.
Atheists are not bound by those religious precepts.
Senseless, when not breaking them is lying about them.

I will not be discussing abortion and homosexuality with you. Period.

Christ did not say "love SOME of your neighbors SOME of the TIME". Reread what He did say.

AND do some research. If you do, you will find that most people who receive benefits do so for a short time OR even up to 3-4 years. Most of these people (many children) receive food stamps or Medicaid AND do so because they lost their job or something went temporarily wrong. Some are disabled or elderly. Some live in an economically isolated area like a rural town where the factory shut down.
This is according to a Census Bureau Report from 2012. I'm sure there's a more recent report out there.
AND...I took your advice. Here's MY cherry-picked verse from Luke 12:48: "For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required."
Thanks from GhostRider and Daws77

And I told you, I am willing to help, not lifetime support, which becomes more common, especially in the ghettos, where Democrats have been championing the poor and doing nothing but enabling them!

It's the old "repeat a lie often enough and people will believe it" ploy.

If more Christians thought like you there wouldn't be so many leaving the church. There seems to be as much difference between the right and left religiously as there is politically. I was brought up in a Lutheran Church, I went to Sunday School every week and took catechism, I was taught just as you wrote above. Do right wingers learn from a different bible or are they just too ignorant or brainwashed to believe and live a truely religious life.
Thanks from Clara007 and Daws77
