On the contrary, you don't understand who or what psychopaths are! With modern brain imaging technology, neuroscience has pretty much nailed down the cause of their antisocial behaviour: poor or non-existent neural communication between our reasoning and abstract thinking regions (the frontal lobes of the cortex layers) and the amygdala...a more primitive system in the brain near the brainstem connection to the spinal column. Among the many functions discovered of the Amygdala, one of its most important is the production of neurochemicals that are consciously interpreted in the cortex as emotional signals.

THIS is the source of the many problems that psychopaths have, because their amygdalas may be failing to produce certain neurochemicals, the neural pathway connecting the amygdala with the cortex may be damaged or even severed in some cases...like people damaged in infancy from "shaken baby syndrome."

The results in life may vary widely depending on how the child is raised and the quality of the environment, as well the child's intelligence will determine how well they are able to function in society. In brief, a successful psychopath has to fake it as he goes through life, and this makes the successful psychopath extremely dangerous...much more dangerous than the criminal psychopath serial rapists and killers pop media gives wall to wall coverage over.

That successful psychopath learns early on in life that his reactions are different than other children around him, so he studies others and learns what triggers their anger, trust, happiness and loyalty..that's what makes these fuckers so dangerous!

The problem today is that the modern Neoliberal capitalist global order is a world where the intelligent, aware, high-functioning psychopath has huge advantages to rise to the top of the business world. He has no fear and throws caution to the wind...as all the Wall Street bankers did when they started up secret derivatives trading markets 20 years ago to compensate for what they considered declining returns on real investments...such as growth in the 'developing world.'

The profits from those derivatives and even the modern banking/economic system itself is a giant ponzi scheme that is doomed to crash when no more bailouts can be found(even when they have pigeons like Obama creating trillions in new money for them).

A normal CEO, who has qualms about his reputation, and end up like Bernie Madoff( one of the few obvious psychopaths to be made an example of) and he would be worried about the longterm viability of his company, and would not take such risks...but we're talking about psychopaths here! Risk means nothing, cause they'll take their money out first before everything goes under.

Bad enough having psychopaths in banking, but the same attitude prevails in businesses and industries carrying on with profitseeking in the face of looming climate disaster. And then there's the arms merchants and their paid asshole generals and politicos pushing the envelope towards nuclear war without any consideration for risks. So, I'll just say the nuts have taken over the asylum under modern capitalism, and the rest of us are hostages hoping they're stopped before they destroy everything!

Emotions are a flaw in mankind, psychopaths are an advancement in human evolution.

Better hope you don't meet any likeminded psychopaths at the libertarian club that are smarter than you!

It would be so funny if they built the stupid fuckin' wall ... and then, like those idiots in the suburbs, Mexico sued because in places it was put 2 feet onto THEIR country's land, and it had to all be torn down - or Trump had to pay rental on the land usage!

There will be plenty of lawsuits to go around. Let's talk the ULTIMATE Eminent Domain fight. Even before President Trump was inaugurated, U.S. citizens who own land along the border reportedly began receiving letters from the Justice Department informing them that the federal government wants their land to build a fence (i.e. the president’s border wall), that it intends to acquire their land and the amount of compensation the government is offering. Surprise!!

"The nearly 2,000-mile southern border is composed of federal, state, tribal and private lands. There are 632 miles of federal or tribal land -- 33 percent -- and the other 67 percent, most of which is in Texas, is private or state-owned, according to the Government Accountability Office (GAO). The Washington Post points out that the president would need Congress to pass a bill to acquire the tribal lands for his wall." CBS News

THIS is gonna be GOOD!! Pass the popcorn and congratulate thousands of attorneys throughout the nation. They're about to hit the mother lode.

not by a psychiatric definition. he is observably an egotist, he has an enormous sense of his own importance, he thinks he is awesome, and likes it when other people think that too. but that isnt narcissism.

Donald Trump
we have sparred often on this forum, and generally i find you to be sensible, informed, and great to discuss things with. but DSM5, really? no psychiatrist who actually works with patients has ANY respect for that piece of tripe. it is garbage through and through, it is deliberately vague and badly done by design. in short, its crap.

i know the line "DSM is the bible of psychiatry". i often say yes, it is just like the bible; its a book that everyone has a copy of, and everyone can quote, but nobody really takes it seriously.

DSM was a good idea badly executed. DSM5 is the worst one they have ever produced. there probably wont be a DSM6, its too atrocious to salvage.

i am not defending trump, he has an ego the size of jupiter and its only just beginning to get in the way of things. but his malady is not that he is a narcissist, its that he is a self important asshole.

You're as emotional as anyone here..
You mean sociopaths not psychopaths. Psychopaths are just full of emotions, many of them irrational and violent but still emotions,

Dumbasses are just dumnasses. *shrug*
