It would take huge defections in the GOP.
You would need Paul Ryan to push it through the House, and at least 19 GOP senators, and I'm not certain every Democrat would vote for impeachment.

And If it failed, you would have a hyper vindictive psychopath bent on revenge in the White House, the whole GOP agenda would be DOA.

And if it succeeded, every GOP candidate could depend on their opponents, both in the primary and if they made it past the primary, in the general, running campaigns composed of footage of them praising Trump, posing with Trump, and repeating the lies of Trump. And Trump himself, bent on revenge, telling his supporters(and he'd still have a sizable number of supporters) to abandon the GOP.
On the bright side, it's looking good for single payer...which would save this country a boatload of money...

With Republican majorities, devoid of anything resembling integrity, impeachment is a fantasy.

There is no legal threshold for impeachment, it's a political act, not a legal proceeding.
There is no appeal, there is only a vote from a highly non-impartial jury, who have arrived at their decision long before the proceeding even begins.

But....consider this. Impeachment--with a GOP Congress and GOP President--is highly unlikely, but the process is not. Articles of Impeachment only need a majority vote in the House for the process to proceed. The House of Representatives votes on one or more articles of impeachment. If at least one gets a majority vote, the president is impeached — which essentially means being indicted. (In both the Nixon and the Clinton cases, the House Judiciary Committee considered the matter first.)
Then it moves on to the Senate. Maybe it doesn't matter whether the president is actually impeached. Maybe the process would push the president into resigning--like Nixon did...?
One thing is for sure. Trump isn't happy. He thought the job would be easier. He thought we the people would adore him. He thought he was smart enough, clever enough and saavy enough to do the job. He thought his staff would lift him up....and he's been wrong on every level. He simply can't do the job. He knows it but won't admit it and his lies have caught up with him.

It's time for Trump to fish or cut bait.

I also think 2018 will be a game changer but only IF the Left and Independants get off their asses and to the polls, they lost in 2016 because of over confidence and apathy, we can't let that happen again.

Comey testified under oath on May 3 that there were no attempts to interfere in any investigations. Hmmm.

Look at the political calculus, there isn't enough votes to convict and remove from office. That means any attempt at impeachment supported by enough Republicans to pass, would subject the GOP to the wrath of Trump.
They are better off to pretend that he's their guy, they lose less that way.

Of course the economy might boom, and everyone will forget all of this and the nation will vote for the GOP in droves...

Don't be too sure. There are plenty of Republicans who hate Trump. If the process gets far enough, it might push them over the line. What's Trump going to do to those who oppose him? Trump already KNOWS who is enemies are.

Trump has stepped over the line more than a few times which I find disturbing. If he unleashes Sessions on Colorado, Oregon or Washington State then I will vote for anyone but him in 2020. I hope Mr. Trump reads DTT.
