I find it somewhat amusing that these kids bash college in general and Liberal Arts degrees specifically.
Then, when they discover their 5th grade language and reading comprehension skills are not up to the task of having an adult discussion they resort to their little memes as a form of communication.
Some will actually brag on their "skill" at "creating" them.
When we all know that all one has to do is Google memes and up with pop hundreds of sites where you can download all you want from online data bases. Or a few here will photo-shop unattractive facial features on my picture from my avatar.
The basic features of most memes are photos, paintings or drawings, stills from video clips, etc. And who was it that created these photos, drawings, films, etc. etc.?
Why it is people with formal training in the Liberal Arts, photographers, artists, graphic artists, film makers, etc.
What? CPA's or biochemists created George Lucas films, the Darth Vadar character the kids seem fond of showing in this very thread? LOL
Thanks from tristanrobin and Clara007

On of my favorite quotes. Saw it on a tv show then later it showed up on a sign I saw somewhere.

"If you think education is expensive, wait till you see what ignorance costs"

This is about keeping the populace dumb and dependent. The LAST thing corporate America wants is an over abundance of educated people. The need just enough educated people to compete for the higher level jobs, keeping those wages low, the rest of us they want ignorant so they can get away with paying slave wages.

HW, you make an excellent point and I hadn't looked at it that way.....but it leads to all sorts of examples--the numerous people who have changed the world with with Liberal Arts degrees---their liberal education, spewed by those liberal, indoctrinating eggheads. Politicians, celebrities, filmakers, architects, musicians, historians.......all nurtured by the Liberal Arts.
Thanks from Hollywood

This is true. This is why the American public education system is designed to create "C" students devoid of critical thinking skills.

Compare the educations students received pre department of education to that of today. Clara, our house teacher, even stated that she believes that something like 75% are not even educated enough to join the military after 12 years of public schooling.

They come out w/ no real life skills, they do not even learn basic budgeting in mathematics. After all of that some believe it to be a good idea to turn higher education completely over to those who have already destroyed the education system.

It is ridiculous.

Quote:
liberal
/ˈlib(ə)rəl/

adjective

adjective: liberal

1. open to new behavior or opinions and willing to discard traditional values.
"they have more liberal views toward marriage and divorce than some people"

2. (of education) concerned mainly with broadening a person's general knowledge and experience, rather than with technical or professional training.
The word "liberal" in a liberal arts education has NOTHING to do with political ideology. It's referring to a BROAD BASED education. It means you will study art, architecture, languages, literature, poetry, music, as well as other less ethereal subjects like math, chemistry, biology and business.

Well, at least you do not contest the statement that Lord Lard-Ass is "beyond stupid."

All Clara said was "you support a man that is beyond stupid", she did not name Lord lard-Ass

There MAY be hope for you yet. ...

Yes, Bubba. I get that. I was referring to BOTH brands of 'liberal'--education and politics. We have heard nothing but disgust from the RIGHT about the propaganda-spewing liberals on campuses across the nation and how it has ruined the education system--from colleges to pre-school.

Now we are hearing how college educations in general and Liberal Arts in particular is a waste of time and money. I disagreed and objected.

In the big boy world (and it's telling that we're talking about education on this thread), words have meaning. People can read and comprehend them in order to form ideas.
If you get overwhelmed by "too much" words, that's your deficiency...

It's amusing that you become fascinated by pictures. And rather telling...
You aren't capable of addressing complex ideas with evidence...
