Higher education is just that...higher education. There is no reason that a farmer in Nebraska should have to chip in so some kid in NYC can study lesbian basket weaving. If the kid wants to study some pointless courses so be it, let him go into $100k himself. Let the farmer teach his kids what he wants and use that cash for a new tractor or something.
YOU don't decide what is, or is not, pointless. *shrug*
BTW, lesbians weave baskets the same way the straight women do. Fucking DUUUUUH.....

Now you hear people say "oh, you hate education" that is just silly. For the most part, nobody "hates education" but schooling especially higher education is not for everyone, or should it be. And defiantly should not be covered by the rest of society against their will.

Gone are the days of journymen and on the job training. Though I see this changing. The market if flooded w/ worthless degrees.
Uh yeah, it was generally unions that provided that journeyman training in the trades.
NOW you want to complain that unions are weaker?

Wow! Another stunning argument from goober. I think you may have three of four epic fails running on the "front page" at the same time. I wonder if this is some kind of record.
Thanks from Jimmyb, guy39 and Maverick

That sounds like whining...why don't try this, why don't try suggesting an idea, instead of whining about taxes, why don't you suggest how to raise the revenue. Instead of whining about education, why don't you suggest how we should educate the population.

And if you don't like classes in lesbian basket weaving, why was that your major?
Thanks from Hollywood

Not all engineers or maybe even a majority, but a lot of engineers know about building stuff, the math of building stuff, or how stuff can be better built. Many times outside this sphere, the intellectualism, or the faux-intellectualism of the colleges is really above their heads and they couldn't care less.

Meny enjinears caint eeven spel wurth uh siht. My father became an airline pilot, and even though he never went to college, knows airframes, engines, just about anything about a car, motor or anything that moves and can do all of that, but you should read his email. Spells the word "doing" as "doeing". A very smart and wise man, he is. But force him into a class in 1950 in English 101 being bored shitless reading Emily Bronte and having to make a report on same, when his engineering classes, he gets to tear stuff down and build them again and how to do it, and make the apparatus better.

You are just not going to get a lot of people from the engineering department interested in political or social causes, unless they are gay. Most couldn't care less or have the outside intellect to care.
Thanks from Sabcat
