Engels report was excellent. Americans working in China are shaking their heads in his report over America's ignorance on the issue. We will lose millions of job opportunities here at home because of right wing ignorance and belligerence and no other reason.

Great maybe they will get the cost down to the point where it is economically feasible and we take advantage of the 100's of billions that they pissed away.

However, the Environmental Progress investigation that was cited by the National Review appears to have several significant weaknesses.:

1. It is extremely narrowly focused since it doesn't examine the entire "cradle to grave" waste-stream of either PV solar cells or nuclear reactor fuel.

2. It doesn't take into consideration the reduction of toxins that could potentially be unleashed upon the environment, if any, that occurs when either PV-based solar power or nuclear power are deployed instead of alternative sources of energy, such as from fossil fuel-based power.

3. It has the ability to create the incorrect impression, in some readers minds, of there being equivalent environmental effects from very different substances when said substances are unleashed upon the environment.

And...

4. Related to #3, it has the ability to create the incorrect impression, in some readers minds, that equal volumes of different substances have equivalent environmental effects when said substances are unleashed upon the environment.

It also ignores the fact that increased recycling and application of mining and refining technologies could greatly reduce environmental impact.

But facts tend to decrease the potential for poutrage.
