No one is celebrating anything we are having a discussion about the peril of removing History, again I would have fought for the North!

Remove all signs of the confederacy.. great.. 2 generations where is the proof of slavery?

They want books like Uncle Tom's Cabin, movies/books like Song of the South (Uncle Remus' tails) and Gone with the wind to no longer be avalible.

where is the proof that slavery ever happened.

I don't support slavery, not support white supremacy I support history.

WE NEED REMINDERS OF OUR HISTROY FROM THE BEST TO THE WORST EVENTS OF OUR HISTORY

If you forget sooner or later you will repeat the mistakes of the past.

So far, all the offensive material has been removed by the local authorities, didn't you get that?

I disagree with any kind of censoring or book banning - and certainly do not believe that the facts of the Civil War should be removed from history books.

I do believe that any Confederate statues honoring enemy combatants of the United States of America, as well as the Confederate flag, which is a symbol of revolt against the United States of America (and stands for a great many other atrocities, as well), should be removed from any public areas. Just because these men were at one time U.S. citizens does not make them heroes - they are traitors and should not be honored or memorialized. Their part in American history, of course, should be recorded in history books.

Christ on a cross! They are statues. They are THINGS made from cement, plaster, or resin-- marble and bronze--bricks and mortar. They can be displayed elsewhere--on private property or museums. Our country's objective SHOULD be to protect our PEOPLE--not statues. I thought that's what your 'savior' said he was going to do when he became president???

Statues have nothing to do with our historical records. There will be NO book burning just because cities and states decided to remove relics of the past.
Go ahead and argue for their value. It will get you nowhere.

No one is denying history.
We don't need to have Hitler high School to remember wwii, or a statue of tojo in Central Park.
