The National Cathedral in Washington DC has just ordered that the two stained glass windows of Confederates be removed, one of which is Robert E. Lee. Two of my ancestors fought for the North and one was killed in battle so I could care less if they remove all images of the Confederacy.

Well, at least they voted in Dallsa, eh. No antifa mobs pulling down statues in acts of vandalism.

And after this is done not one persons life will be any better.

After this is done, every black person, every Jew, every minority that Nazi, KKK, white supremacists and white nationalists attempt to marginalize can walk down that street and not have to face down a statue 'honoring' their enemies.
Thanks from catus felis and Camelot

The city council in Charlottesville also voted to remove a statue. The white supremacists and Nazis reacted with hate.

Well, SHOOT! Just when things were going so smoothly at the WH! LOL

Oh, the irony. The GOP has it all, correct? Presidency, Senate, House, Supreme Court, governorships.....and they simply can't do a thing.

From WaPo today: Trumpís betrayal of the Republican leaders should surprise no one
"Chuck and Nancy and Donald and Ivanka seemed to thoroughly enjoy their meeting at the White House the other day. Mitch and Paul, not so much.

Does it really surprise anyone that President Trump betrayed the Republican leaders who have been trying their best to carry water for him on Capitol Hill ó Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) ó and is playing footsie with their Democratic rivals? It shouldnít.

One thing that should be blindingly obvious by now is that political loyalty, for the president, is a one-way street. Trump stunned everyone by endorsing the Schumer/Pelosi plan. Ouch."
AND the Trumpettes are still singin' "doo wop"....probably because they think Trump would NEVER betray ME. He's "MY GUY"...doo wop.

In other news: Five former U.S. presidents joined forces on Thursday to raise funds for victims of Hurricane Harvey, aiming to help rebuild some of the thousands of homes and businesses destroyed from Texas to Louisiana.

The presidents will launch "One America Appeal," to start collecting funds with a plea broadcast during Thursday night's National Football League season opener, the group said in a statement. Former presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush and Jimmy Carter are behind the effort.

Is it just me or does anyone see a pattern emerging?? Maybe there's hope. Maybe I'll enjoy this presidency more than I anticipated??

This is performance art.
Every time a street sign comes down for "Nathan Bedford Forrest Boulevard" and is replaced by one that says "Harriet Tubman Boulevard" it exposes truth.
The Nazis and KKK will be there at first, like in Charlottesville, exposing the Truth, that these monuments are important to the White Supremacist movement.
There won't be historians or educators or art historians protesting the removals, just white supremacists, and Republicans.
By the end, no one will show up to protest, each renaming, each removal, each replacement will be the site of a celebration of what is best about America.
That America recognizes it's mistakes eventually, and makes some acknowledgement and compensation for those errors.
