The President has had numerous

meetings this week, with leaders and main stream members of both parties. Congratulations to him for doing that. He is trying to bring together clear thinking, elected representatives to try and actually get good things done for the nation.

Some in the media seem to want to chastise him for this....what do they want, other than air time to attack the President?

Just a minute. "clear thinking" and tRump in the same sentence?

Does not compute.

Just in: an email from CNN

Quote:
Democratic leaders Sen. Chuck Schumer and Rep. Nancy Pelosi said following a meeting with President Donald Trump that they have "agreed" to a fix on DACA and resolved iron out a border-security plan -- "excluding" the US-Mexico border wall that was one of Trump's most memorable campaign promises.

In an optimistic statement following the White House meeting, Schumer and Pelosi said the parties had "agreed to enshrine the protections of DACA into law quickly, and to work out a package of border security, excluding the wall, that's acceptable to both sides."

"We had a very productive meeting at the White House with the President," they said.

But White House press secretary Sarah Sanders pushed back on that assessment: "While DACA and border security were both discussed, excluding the wall was certainly not agreed to."

It was not immediately clear what exactly was agreed to on Wednesday night, besides the details included in the Democrats' initial statement.
I guess tRump liked the positive media coverage of the last time he threw the GOP under the bus he decided to do it again. Anything for the adulation he craves.
Thanks from Clara007

I cannot believe I'm about to say this but if Trump continues in this vain, doing what's needed for the country, rather than what looks good for the party, he just might earn my respect.

Trump gives the democrats what they want, and you still choke on saying anything good about him.

OK, how about "I like the direction in which his more recent flip-flops have gone".

And if it pisses off the GOP it must be good.
Thanks from Camelot

I love how "build the HUUUUGEST, biggest, bestist, highest most amazing wall in the world" has morphed into "doing a little needed maintenance of what's there already".

Let's see, he can't get Repubs to change of Obama's programs....he seems to love Chucky and Nancy.....and yet everyone still thinks that really are two party's. Alrighty then.

Everybody can just calm down because as usual, Trump has turned on a dime. This just in one hour ago: NBC News

"President Donald Trump insisted Thursday that there was no deal with Democrats yet to extend protections for so-called "Dreamers," but the president pleaded with congressional leaders to reach one, while he vowed to push ahead with his border wall "later."

"No deal was made last night on DACA. Massive border security would have to be agreed to in exchange for consent. Would be subject to vote," Trump tweeted in a series of posts."

Deal or no deal??

More on this from Axios:

Quote:
President Trump told reporters Thursday that he won't "do anything" regarding DACA unless the border wall becomes a reality, not necessarily in the legislation he's discussing with Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer to replace DACA, but at some point in the future:

"Very important is the wall. We have to be sure the wall isn't obstructed because without the wall I wouldn't do anything... It doesn't have to be here but they can't obstruct the wall if its in a budget or anything else."
"We're not looking at citizenship. We're not looking at amnesty. We're looking at allowing people to stay here... I just spoke with Paul Ryan, everybody's on board."

Why it matters: Trump, who two hours ago said "the wall will come later," is pulling back on his earlier comments in an effort to appease his base, who have been ripping him apart for agreeing to this DACA framework.
Note the last paragraph. Have to keep that base well fed. The guy is going to split in two if he keeps this up.

But notice all the weasel words and conditions and exceptions he put into those few sentences.
