While the prosecutors were sitting in their office, after 8 YEARS of hard work, celebrating their victory and the largest fine ever imposed, wearing their $300 men's warehouse suits, sipping a 12 year old scotch and not smoking anything because it's illegal to smoke in a federal building ..........

The lawyers for Asplundh were sitting in their very luxurious offices, wearing $3000 designer suits, sipping on a 40 year old scotch, smoking Cuban cigars and celebrating that NO ONE WENT TO JAIL, that they kept the feds at bay for 8 years and a $3 BILLION dollar a year company only paid out $95 million in fines.

These douchebags had already been caught once. We need far more aggressive prosecution and more importantly far more punitive. My first move as AG would have been asset seizure pending investigation. As soon as someone realized these traitors had simply rehired the same illegals, EVERY SINGLE ORANGE TRUCK IN THE NATION as well as their headquarters would have been seized and impounded until the investigation was over. They were under investigation, we couldn't in good conscious leave them operational, and continuing to break the law, or giving them time to transfer, sell or otherwise liquidate assets now could we ??

I'd also apply the RICO laws. Massive, intentional illegal activities that surely paid for a portion of the owners and top managers PERSONAL HOMES, BANK ACOUNTS, STOCK PORTFOLIOS, so we'd need to seize those assets as well until such time as we could reliably establish either the percentage of the ill gotten gains, or that any given asset was not the result of illegal activiy.

When the company is essentially shut down, and the owners and top managers are sleeping on their third cousin's sofa because they're locked out of their homes, their bank accounts are frozen and none of their credit cards work, how long do you think it would take them to get the message, YOU DON'T HIRE ILLEGALS !!!! ?????

Exactly.

I actually live near their headquarters and funnily enough, I work for one of the owner's side companies. This is absolutely crazy news to me.

They saved more than 95 million by hiring illegal aliens last year.
That 95 million comes out of income, it doesn't have anything to do with revenue. You need to take some basic business classes.

Do you honestly believe a company with $3.9 BILLION in revenue, which should translate into hundreds of millions in "income" is going to really feel that 95 million dollar fine ?? AAwwwww poor Asplundh family will have to wait a year to buy another new jet !!!

I've always held the view that we needed to solve the American side of the immigration problem first!
That problem is simply one of greed. These companies and their officers will continue to hire the cheapest labor, because there is no downside that profits cannot overcome for them!
Manufacturing jobs can easily be sent abroad to take advantage of almost slave labor. Many companies look to China, the Philippines, Vietnam, and other such places. For the labor cost of just one American, the company could have 20 to 25 locals doing the same work.
The only companies that cannot outsource abroad are personal service businesses, like restaurants. You can't walk into a Burger King and get your order sent to you from overseas. Therefore, companies like this will forever hire the cheapest labor.
I don't know the current fine structure for companies that get caught hiring undocumented labor, but until we start prep walking some CEO's into court in handcuffs and leg irons; it will continue!

Is it really just about this one company? No, it's about the message being sent to illegal alien employers who can't afford this type of hit. Until this become a criminal felony with the loss of business license, ICE will be fighting an uphill battle.
