Well DUUUUUUHHHHHHHH That was sorta my point !!! TV was trying to give the credit to the Rumpster and I was merely pointing out the investigation and subsequent prosecution was started long before the Dumpster took office as YOU pointed out by Obama !! You know the man who was supposedly SOOOOOOOOO lax on immigrants.

There aren't enough legal workers to fill all the construction jobs, and we still don't have a mechanism for letting enough workers in legally.

So that's a real problem and a real question, anyone?
The problem is NOT, and never has been, a lack of legal workers. It's a matter of WAGES. A friend of mine worked construction in PA in the late 80s and early 90s. At the time the pay scale ran from $18 an hour to $26 or even $28 an hour depending on the size of the job and your skill level.

Then the Mexicans showed up. Over the next three years pay scales dropped to the point that even highly skilled construction labor couldn't find a job paying more than $12 to $14 an hour. He retrained and found different work that paid better.

LEGAL workers are MORE THAN willing to rebuild FL and TX. They're just not going to roast in the sun and sweat in the oppressive heat and humidity for $10 an hour. This is AND ALWAYS has been the REAL issue.

And actually we DO HAVE a mechanism for bringing in outside workers. Just ask Disney !!!!!! They FIRED their American workers then hired a bunch of foreign workers LEGALLY at lower wages. They should be fucking ashamed of themselves.

Obama shifted away from Bush’s strategy of workplace raids and turned the focus on employers. Between 2008 and 2009, immigration audits soared from 503 to more than 8,000. But other metric tell a more nuanced story. Final orders against employers, for example, were higher in the 1990s than they are now.
Obama holds record for cracking down on employers who hire undocumented workers, says Wasserman Schultz | PolitiFact Florida

So, only Bush 43 beat Obama on employer crackdowns.
But Repubs see this one story and say "finally"???

By this logic, let's prosecute one murderer.
The rest will get "the message", right?

Quite frankly, right-wingers should be looking for consistent application of the law on employers instead of dog and pony shows.
In 1982, the GAO responded with a report concluding that, in the 19 countries surveyed, sanctions were largely ineffective for two reasons: employers either were able to evade responsibility for illegal employment or, once apprehended, were penalized too little to deter such acts; or the laws generally were not being effectively enforced because of strict legal constraints on investigations, noncommunication between government agencies, lack of enforcement resolve, and lack of personnel.
