Community pays tribute to Marquis Jones, who was shot by Burlington Police

Marquis “Bubba” Jones was a father. A track runner and football player at Burlington High School. A beloved son.

He was also quite popular in the South Hill neighborhood. A Burlington original who naturally attracted loyal friends.

“He helped everybody. Everybody loved him. Everybody,” said his mother, Altovese Williams of Burlington.

Jones, 27, was fatally shot in the chest Oct. 1 by Burlington Police while fleeing from a traffic stop. His family is still trying to figure out why.

“All he (the officer) had to do is pull a taser out, and we wouldn’t be doing this. It’s sad, man. But there’s nothing you can do,” said Jones’ brother, Ryan Davis of Burlington.

And you are comfortable administering the death penalty for fleeing.

Play around here: https://www.washingtonpost.com/graph...hootings-2017/

As I said, many even most of these deaths are justified, but for a fact not all are.

What the hell ever happened to the stigma attached to shooting someone in the back? Is that old fashioned now?

And look at you. You can't even say, well, that was tragic.

Hell no, you immediately look for an excuse.

And you folks envision yourself patriots for not watching NFL football.

Y'all are the root of the problem, and you're completely oblivious to it.

Play Rednecks, White Socks and Blue Ribbon Beer and the professional athletes won't take the knee.

This is called "victim blaming" and it is a real epidemic among ignorant bullying racist bigots. No offense, I'm just saying...

Of all the possible bad cop scenarios, you give an example of a fleeing suspect. Could you not do better than that?
Thanks from Sensible

You must not like football.
I like football, I don't watch the ads, that's grab a beer time or talk to the other people watching time.
I don't care about the anthem, they hardly ever show it, unless Beyonce or someone like that is singing it , and even then it's not why I watch the game.
So on Sunday, I'll watch the Patriots, and you can watch reruns of Gilligan's Island and we'll both be happy.
But on Monday, at work, I'll have something to talk about with the other people, besides "I still can't decide between Ginger and Mary Ann"
