Well, they certainly are not thinking for themselves.

Yes it is! And allowing the sale of assault weapons that can easily be made fully automatic should be a no-brainer, but there are many reasons besides the proliferation of guns for why so many lone gunmen are deciding to go out with a bang and take a bunch of people with them now. Economic troubles...stagnant wages, working longer hours at crappy jobs, growing debtloads etc. are all playing a part in the drama.
Thanks from Gordy

ANY semi-automatic - even a .22 or a shotgun made to fire fully automatic. Be that as it may Congress had no business outlawing fully automatic firearms AND a bump stock does not make a firearm full auto.

Go gun grabbers now want all full autos outlawed and semi-autos too. Real telling there.
Thanks from Sensible

I view Obama as a mediocre leader, averse to controversies that would threaten his financial interests and poll numbers...just trying to play it right down the middle...wherever the middle happened to be. But, all you got to offer is 'my team is better than your team!' You have no interest in the issues aside from their political framing.

I know nothing about automatic weapons, and I've only owned a couple of hunting rifles in my past...and that's all I care to know about. If it was possible to make them fully automatic, I neither know or care to know if what you're saying is true or total bullshit! I'll just say there are clear markers that define guns for hunting, self-defense and offensive assault weapons, and we don't need to be bringing the latter back and putting them in the hands of everyone walking down the street!

Don't really have a team, I am a conservative. Not many of them in either party anymore, so that presumption is false.

If there were "clear markers" it would be easy to outlaw certain kinds of weapons without affecting others. However, it isn't. Additionally, a wise man once mused that the greatest reason to retain the Right to keep and bear Arms, is, as a last resort, to prevent tyranny in government. You're not going to do that with your grand-daddy's single shot shotgun.
