I don't dismiss inventive, enlightening satire to inform a public debate.

But in the case of this quotation: "The shooter was an athiest. Let's make it illegal for all athiests to own a gun." Originally Posted by BS Filter View Post

Our 2nd Amendment protects our right to keep & bear arms to some extent.

This morning's reports are that the shooter applied for a gun, and was denied, perhaps in connection with his conviction for domestic violence, and the year of incarceration he served for it.

The problem:
There's a clamor from the "oh! ain't it just awful!" crowd to further restrict or terminate our 2nd Amendment rights.
This radicalization has helped radicalize the NRA, which zealously defends our 2nd Amendment.

I have wondered:
If instead of advocating the extremes of the debate, could we promote public safety by good faith constructive negotiations on both sides?

At the current state of the debate, it doesn't appear we will.

Perhaps, but the fact is you hate everything and everybody who thinks differently than you do.

You fully support ANTIFA son. You have so much hatred inside of you it's a wonder you can even function. Me? I don't hate anyone, not even those that cost me my leg.

You? You are being controlled by the liars in charge who drive the wars and cause people to die.

I believe it's more accurate to say we have a few people here who don't hate those who think differently.

Why, would that somehow change peoples hearts, because that is the problem. You can't legislate hatred out of people, I remember a thread about Christian persecution, and how it didn't happen. My understanding is this guy was a Christian hater, and with the rhetoric thrown at Christians by the leftists and especially atheists how is this surprising?

Nonsense, that was well after the fact, and it was a response to someone else's thread.

What we are witnessing in a broader sense is a capitalistic system that has reached the point in it’s time horizon that it is spiraling out of control because monied interests have absolute control over everything. The reason that military grade weaponry with large capacity magazines are on our streets is because incredible amounts of money could be had doing so. As a result, law enforcement must have military defensive capabilities like armored vehicles to combat it. Also, this weaponry has rendered the average citizen’s right to self defense OBSOLETE as we witnessed in Sandy Hook, Orlando, Las Vegas and Texas.

The pharmaceutical industry is pumping out opoiods far in excess of any ethical need because their is an incredible amount of money to be had doing so. As a result, 200,000 Americans are dying every year. That represents 70 times the deaths realized on 9-11. I could go on stating further examples of capitalism spiraling out of control in other major areas.

CONCLUSION: An out of control capitalistic system where the monied interests control policy is rotting this country from the inside and will lead to our society imploding in on itself. The Muslim vs. Atheism nonsense is merely the distraction of assholes. The End.

Guns in the hands of private citizens saved lives at the Sutherland Baptist Church.
