So I would guess that Kim's is similarly insulated.... But what little electrical grid the rest of the country has would be toast.... Question is "Can EMP be produced by some other method than lighting of a nuke??"
I'm talking about an non-nuke EMP weapon. But my guess is that he was concerned about either Israel or the US nuking him. I'd guess about 50-50. Bush Jr. had bad daddy issues.

It went much deeper than that. Those Skull and Bones boy's were the worst of the worst. If you want an interesting study look into the "New World Order" mantra. I think you'll be surprised by all who used the phrase. I watched an FDR speech today where he used in in conjunction with Hitler.

He (Saddam) was at war with Iran..... But, Israel having nukes is a well known secret...

I don't know any Koreans but that is not the case in S. Korea.
The Kims are divine.
According to legend, and Kim Jong-ilís official biography, he was born in a secret military cabin high on Mount Paektu in 1942. His birth was prophesied by a swallow, and was signalled by a double rainbow over the mountain and a new star in the sky.

Mugabe was the world's oldest living leader and did not have a declared successor to be his strong-armed ironfist. His mere existence could no longer command the loyalty of the military and a power vacuum and power struggle was building up quickly due to his rapid decline in health.

The military moved against him and forced his resignation.

Kim is young and other than his weight and possibly his mental state appears to in good health.

Besides for their revision of history and the calendar, they have now been brainwashed for more than 70 years that the Kim's are gods. Remember, during the same era that Grandpa Kim took power in North Korea, it took the Japanese Emperor Hirohito after the end of WWII to publicly confess to the Japanese people that he was not a God. The Japanese still revere their current Emperor as god-like to this day. It will take the Chinese to remind the North Koreans that the Chinese Gods are more powerful than the Korean Gods before the North Korean military turn on Kim.

On topic of internal NK revolt, R #6 comments:

It's totalitarian.
NK's few diplomats are discouraged from defecting by their family members being held hostage. If an NK refuses to return home, the hostages are dealt with.

I understand.
There's precedent, as you've cited.
In this holiday season, the example I like to recall is Romania's General Secretary Nicolae Ceausescu. The People got a hold of him. Ceausescu was tried, convicted of genocide and executed Dec. 25, 1989. Merry Christmas Nic!

Not according to Adams it doesn't.

Always all ways always!
And in Saddam's Iraq in the 3rd millennium, constrained by trade sanctions, aggressive if not punitive U.N. inspection regimes, tenacious enforcement of both North & South no-fly zones, Saddam was safely contained, and of no threat to the U.S. or our allies.

U.S. President Bush (the younger) televised address to the U.S. March 17th, 2003
That is a lie.
President Clinton lied. But he lied about Monica Lewinsky, apparently to hold his marriage together. Succeeded.
President Obama told some falsehoods:
- he'd close Gitmo his first year in office
- if you like your healthcare plan, you can keep your healthcare plan
Obama tried to make good on his Gitmo promise, but was thwarted by congressional Republicans, costing U.S. $millions!
Obama may have sincerely intended to keep his word on healthcare, but didn't actually word the legislation congress handed him to sign.

Bush LIED.
Bush LIED us into War.
And thousands died as a result of that terrible lie!

Quote:
"and then eliminate them....Problem was....What happens next??....Where was the plan for a post-Saddam Iraq??.."
That's not the only problem. But it's enough. Lookit the hornet's nest we stirred up in Egypt by kicking Mubarak to the side of the road.

In any case, ISIL's senior military command was heavily dominated by former Saddam / Iraqi military commanders.
President GWB created ISIL by first conquering Iraq, and then disemploying their military.
SPECTACULARLY foolish.
Quote:
" I would go with the EMP and covertly fry their electrical grid...." Jg
Why?
They don't have one.

Such tactic would likely do vastly more harm to our allies in the region, including South Korea, and Japan. And ruffling China's feathers is growing increasingly perilous.

One reason should be plainly obvious: the threat of an external enemy that destroyed all the cities in the North and killed between 20 and 25% of the population.

When that enemy is still threatening to destroy your country and repeatedly refuses a reciprocal agreement to end war games in exchange for an end to nuclear and missile tests through Dem and Repub administrations, you don't have the luxury of campaigning for democracy....not like Zimbabwe is getting democracy now though!

I know of no more totalitarian regime on Earth.
Be careful about assuming NK's are loyal out of sincere conviction for their "dear leader". Some may indeed.
Many do not.

And for any that doubt just what a totalitarian Hell hole NK is, check out the story of North Korean prison camp #14 escapee Shin Dong-hyuk.
