And here is the coward Republican President's tweet about this change:

@realDonaldTrump

Yesterday, I was thrilled to be with so many WONDERFUL friends, in Utah’s MAGNIFICENT Capitol.

It was my honor to sign two Presidential Proclamations that will modify the national monuments designations of both Bears Ears and Grand Staircase Escalante...
The Republican President so adored for telling it like it is "MODIFIED" the national monuments. The joke continues.

And over 1/3 of those people (1.06 million) live in just 10 cities.
So the land should be UNDER STATE not federal ownership.

No.. not an opinion, nothing personal either.

Then the federal government needs to be paying the state rent for the land.

Land stewardship is a money-losing proposition.

Land management and facility maintenance lead the list of costs incurred.

These federal lands belong to everyone. Private or state ownership will come with restrictions. And state ownership will result in expenses for the states.

This insane hatred of all things federal eats away at our nation from inside. Back in the Vietnam days and into this century, the right constantly pointed fingers at those who opposed that war and the general aggressive nature of our foreign policy.

"Why do you hate our country?" In other words, criticizing the country was equivocated with hating our country.

The same applies here, with the roles reversed.

"Why do you hate our country and our federal government?"

I guarantee you, locals here have no problem with federal ownership of 80 percent of our county.

Is 2/3rds of the land insignificant to the needs of the population of Utah? Is that your opinion, or the opinion of the citizens of Utah?

The land is owned by the people of the United States, don't the owners have a bigger say than the State of Utah?
