Al Franken to Resign

It looks like Al Franken will step down, due to the allegations of sexual harassment. Every Democratic congresswoman has called on Franken to resign. They are joined by more than half of the Democrats in the Senate, including party leadership called for Franken to step down amid allegations that he inappropriately touched several women.

Franken's office said Wednesday that the senator will make an announcement Thursday but did not provide any more details. "Sexual harassment is unacceptable," Klobuchar, Franken's fellow Minnesota senator posted on Twitter. "This morning I spoke with Senator Franken and, as you know, he will be making an announcement about his future tomorrow morning. I am confident he will make the right decision."

As a Democrat and a woman who has encouraged Franken and others to step down, I am proud of the party who obviously takes these charges seriously, unlike the GOP who supports the "Party before Country" mantra, which apparently translates to "Party before Morals".

The GOP is on the wrong side of history--right now. They are convinced that looking the other way while promoting family values is going to make America great.

The voters are watching and taking notes. Members of both parties have been accused, but only ONE party is taking measures to end decades of abusive behavior. Thanks, Dems.

He is a Democrat. So he's got some class.

I hear Moore's poll numbers are climbing. SMH.

Franken has sort of owned up to things. He is not a murderer. It should be up to the voters to vote him out of office next election. I think Franken is being railroaded.

Maybe he's just getting ready to run for POTUS in 2020, doing like Hillary did by stepping down as Secretary of State to run for POTUS in 2016.

Interesting. Who do you think might be trying to railroad him & why do you think they're trying to railroad him? I have just been kinda assuming that the timing has been turning out very bad for him & figured that someone came across the photo and started circulating it at a time when this kind of issue is a hot & rather sensitive topic.

I agree that voters should decide, but maybe they did some surveys, focus groups, internal polling, or whatever and determined based on their results (their/them being his state's political party organization or what not) that the best thing is for him to step down, if that's what he ends up doing.

EDIT:

Are you alluding to Ted Kennedy, when you say Franken's not a murderer?
Thanks from Sabcat
