My god. The second thing I agree with the Republican President on. Yes, if claims like that are not litigious you need you libel laws tweaked.

Lots of things. Where does it end and where does it begin?
In Canada you have to be able to show harm. But it need not be monetary harm.

Here's the thing. Unless I KNOW a person well (and by that I mean I have spent many hours with them, had them at my house for dinner or parties--have been to their home and know their families--had various conversations with them) I (nor anyone else) have the right to say they are GOOD or BAD or NASTY or KIND. The only exception to that would be if that person has/had been investigated, indicted, imprisoned, etc.

If you/we don't KNOW someone personally....your/my opinion doesn't mean squat.

I hear ya, but you know WHY Trump is pursuing the LIBEL laws, right??

It's actually kinda hilarious.

I don't exactly, but I greatly fear what he is apt to try to achieve.

I know this will come as a complete shock to you, R, but SOME people have said some pretty nasty things about Prez Trump. Some people have actually called him "NAMES". Some people have identified him as stupid, childish, ignorant, foolish, reckless, and feckless--teehee--I'm into rhyming words today.
Some people DON'T like the Tweeter-in-Chief.

Here's a FINE example:

https://www.theguardian.com/global/v...the-face-video

So, the prez is upset---just a little--because people like Robert DeNiro don't like him and the prez doesn't like the first amendment. Ergo: Stricter Libel Laws.
