That's good enough for me.

Another good read

Read, don't read, to state that the Creator of life is not agianst killing the most innocent of life is silly to me.

I have not been presented with any facts that matter, sorry.

Well it was covered in the 10 Commandments.

When you don't want to discuss the topic, why bother clicking on the link taking you to it?

I said, and stand on, the Lord Jesus Christ did not address the topic of abortion although people of the day practiced it. Even the Apostles never commented on the subject.

So why are Last Days Christians so focused on the issue? I can tell you why, but you don't want to hear my opinion.

RE: Abortion

Most abortions take place before 16 weeks. About 10% take place after 12 weeks, with 4% occuring at 15-20 weeks, and a little over 1.5% after.

However, to say that an embryo or fetus, even at its early stages, is a "collection of cells' is misleading. It is technically true- all living things, including me as I type this, are collections of cells. But an embryo is much more complex than a collection of individual cells together as a masss.

This is a really good site on fetal development. It is not affiliated with the pro-life movement, and has footage from national geographic.

The Endowment for Human Development - Improving lifelong health, one pregnancy at a time

There are videos on this site of embryos and fetuses that are taken by tiny cameras inserted in the uterus, as well as sonograms

Some of the facts from the site are:

By 3 weeks, the embryo has a beating heart and a circulatory system.

By 6 weeks, the embryo has a brain that has developed into three hemispheres, which gives off measurable electrical activity, i.e. brain waves.

By 7 1/2 weeks, the embryo has a human form, with fingers and toes that are just beginning to separate.

Also at 7 weeks the embryo, if a girl, has ovaries of her own.

By 8 weeks, the fetus is fully formed, with individual fingers and toes, all of which are clearly discernible. You can tell immediately by looking at it that it is a developing human, and not a developing cat, dog, or other animal.

Also by 8 weeks, the fetus shows either right hand or left hand dominance.

Yet around 40% of all abortions take place after 8 weeks.

By 10 weeks, the baby has every organ an adult has (though some, such as the lungs, are not yet functioning) and has fingerprints that are unique and different from those of any person who has ever lived.

By 11 weeks, the fetus breathes amniotic fluid in and out.

By 13 weeks (the second trimester) every body system (digestive, respiratory, etc) is present, and all but the reproductive system are functioning. Major development takes place in the lungs and brain, and body fat develops to insulate the child, but the parts and systems are all there.

All of this shows that a fetus or even an embryo is far more developed and sophisticated than what is implied by as "a collection of cells"

Check out the link I provided. Abortion is a controversial issue, and everyone has the right to their opinion on the matter. But it's important to look at the actual facts, whether they support one's position or not.

Abortion has become politically charged.

Whether to have an abortion is a personal decision and within reasonable limits, government should leave people to their consciences.

Imo.
