WalMart give 22% raise to lowest paid workers due to Trump Tax Bill

Looks like all the Dems lying about this just benefiting "billionaires" and "corporations" are getting exposed as the morons they are.

Paying out bonuses to all workers as well.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is boosting its starting hourly wage to $11 and delivering bonuses to employees, capitalizing on the U.S. tax overhaul to stay competitive in a tightening labor market.

Wal-Mart’s decision makes it the latest corporate titan to plow expected tax savings into employee payouts. Boeing Co., AT&T Inc. and Wells Fargo & Co. have all made similar announcements in recent weeks. Wal-Mart said it’s “early in the process of assessing potential additional investments” it could make.

“Tax reform gives us the opportunity to be more competitive globally and to accelerate plans for the U.S.,” Chief Executive Officer Doug McMillon said in Thursday’s statement.

Walmart announces raises and bonuses — then closes some stores.

Walmart announced on Thursday it would raise starting wages for hourly employees to $11 an hour beginning next month, and will give some of its hourly workers one-time bonuses that could be as high as $1,000. In total, more than a million employees could benefit, the company said.

The goodwill generated by that announcement, however, was quickly dampened by reports that Walmart would be closing 63 Sam’s Club stores across the country — some with no advance notice.

The move will affect more than 16,000 employees, including 10,000 in the US.

The closings include 154 locations in the US — 102 of which are the company's smallest stores, called Walmart Express, which have been in pilot since 2011.

My bad.

Those last figures I posted were from 2016 under Obama.

Walmart had already raised their min wage from $9 to $10 last year. BEFORE the tax bill was even being discussed.

To get the $1000 you'll have to have been with the company 20 years !!!

But good for wally world, AKA the EVIL EMPIRE. They've been soaking up BILLIONS of tax payer dollars for decades now. Least they can do is share a few bread crumbs with their employees.
