I have traveled to 37 states, I find many of them nice to visit. But TN always brings me back.

Low Taxes.

improving schools.

reasonably maintained infrastructure

Great access to City and Rural life

I can go see a Broadway play tonight and go deer hunting tomorrow and Pro sports (Hockey Football) and never drive more that 20 minutes to do either

How do you get from TN to Broadway in 20 minutes?

Inquiring minds want to know.

I think he means he can drive to Memphis in 20 minutes and see a Broadway play PERFORMED in a venue here in Memphis.

A lot a these guys that like to portray themselves as "good ole country boys" simply live in the suburbs or "bedroom communities" of large cities like Memphis or Atlanta, etc. They think if they drive a pick up truck into the city to their job as an accountant or whatever that makes them "country."

ahhhhhh

I go to plays that were ONCE on Broadway, but being performed by others, too.

But, they're NOT Broadway plays LOL.

If you've seen a Broadway play, you know the difference!

I lived in San Antonio for 5 years. I loved it. Austin is like the sister city. I went there often. Austin is cool. San Marcos is small Texas townish. San Antonio has lots of fiestas all year round. The riverwalk is just wonderful.

But you are asking me where I would live if I had a million dollars and was retired. Well I think I would go with the Italian dolomite mountains. Its the Alps really but not rainy like the Austrian alps. You are centrally located in Europe. You could get most places in one day by car. I have been to a lot of mountains in the world and I would have to say the Dolomites are my fav.
I spent a couple of months in San Antonio, and I thought I was back in Nam, you take a shower, get dressed, and thirty min. later you're sopping wet from sweating.

North Dakota? Would love to check it out in the summer months. Way, way too cold for me.

Western South Dakota would be kick ass except for the Arctic like winters. Beautiful area, could live in Rapid City. But again, would freeze my ass off almost half the year. This is why New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont is out too. I think New Englanders maybe are very provincial and not into outsiders (especially southerners) but who knows? But again, freezing my ass off half the year and dealing with snow isn't my bag.

I froze my ass off in Dallas. Texarcana was hot and steamy. El Paso was real hot but a dry heat. 62 and raining as I write, Thank God when this winter gets over.

edit: I shiver, freeze and sweat continuing work that I must do.
