Still Think It's NOT a Man's World??

Think again!

Enter stage Left: Tammy Duckworth

Duckworth, Senator from Illinois, IS HAVING A baby! Great, eh? So what's the problem?

Senator Duckworth will be the first senator (IN HISTORY) to have a baby while in office. AND sooo???
How can a senator who needs to vote take time off to care for her newborn?

“I can’t technically take maternity leave,” Duckworth said in the latest episode of the Women Rule podcast. “Because if I take maternity leave, then I won’t be allowed to sponsor legislation or vote during that time period.”

The Illinois Democrat and Iraq War veteran, who is expecting her second child this spring, will be the first sitting senator to give birth in office. She plans to take 12 weeks of paid leave – but she’s working with her party’s leadership and her staff to figure out how she can still take important votes while she’s out.

“It’s going to change some Senate rules,” Duckworth said. For instance: “You are not allowed to bring children onto the floor of the Senate at all,” Duckworth pointed out. “If I have to vote, and I’m breastfeeding my child, especially during my maternity leave period, what do I do? Leave her sitting outside?”

For Senate Democrats, the absence of Duckworth — a former Black Hawk pilot who has raised her national profile in recent months by firing off blistering criticisms of President Donald Trump — could be a significant hurdle given the current 51 to 49 split in the Senate with Democrats in the minority. She has also become a key voice for her party as it gears up for a tough midterm election cycle.

In her interview with POLITICO, the Illinois senator acknowledged that Democrats face difficult prospects in the upcoming elections.

Sen. Tammy Duckworth, D-Illinois, says she's ready to "change some rules" in the Senate as she becomes the first sitting U.S. senator to give birth when she welcomes her second child, a baby girl due in April. Duckworth told Politico's "Women Rule" podcast that she faces an uphill battle when it comes to being a mother in office.

"For example, you are not allowed to bring children onto the floor of the Senate at all," Duckworth noted. "If I have to vote, and I'm breastfeeding my child, especially during my maternity leave period, what do I do? Leave her sitting outside?"

She added, "I can't leave her with a staff member, that's a conflict of interest, so am I allowed to vote? Can I not do my job? What are some of the requirements there?"

Joe Gideon: It's showtime, Volk!

The first issue: Does the GOP stand for family values or not? They'll have to decide that, of course. But it'll look very strange if they're all for the genital-grabbing president, but draw the line (a chalk outline? a line with her carefully outside of it?) against a woman who's just delivered a baby, & who happens to be a sitting US Senator.

Good luck to them squaring that circle. Find a comfy chair, fire up some popcorn, set the VCR.

Yeah, my uncle was having heart surgery at this extremely progressive hospital. The surgeon (a.woman) just brought an additional nurse into the surgery to hold the baby as it latched onto her breast so the baby could eat and she could work at the same time. So progressive.

Well....bless your heart. Hopefully, your uncle is in a better place--no puking allowed in heaven, or at least THAT'S what I've been told.

So, how do you get laid in Heaven if their are no women? Only gay males allowed in your concept of Heaven? Interesting.

Why should she have time off? She's supposed to be there voting for her constituents that's why she got elected. If she can't vote then she should resign so the governor can replace her with someone who can.

And before you come at me, I think that the same should be the case if it was a man. They're there to do one job and if they can't fulfill it then someone else should.

Breast pump and bottles just like millions of women do because they have a job.
