OKAY--I Waited Long Enough

So, today, there was another school shooting.

What happened: Law enforcement responded to reports of a shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, just before 3 p.m.
The shooter: The suspect, a former student, was taken into custody, according to local authorities.
The victims: At least 17 people were killed. 14 other people were injured in addition to the 17 people killed.

The suspect, 19-year-old former student Nikolaus Cruz, is in custody, the sheriff said. The sheriff said he was expelled for unspecified disciplinary reasons. Police are investigating his digital profile, he said. So far, what they've found is "very, very disturbing," Israel said.
The gun?? An AR-15.

So I thought for SURE that someone would post this event, but.....YAWN...once again? No biggie.

Let the excuses begin. 17 killed...could have been worse. 14 wounded...they'll get over it. Nikolaus Cruz....probably all those video games and rap music.
An AR-15.....IF ONLY the teachers and liaison officer had one too. Good guys would have saved the day.

Nikolas Cruz, identified as Florida high school shooting suspect, reportedly showed warning signs | Fox News

Maybe just maybe they could have stopped it!

In bold is your only intelligent response, I still say anti gun Nazis are orchestrating this!

Once, a family member who seems particularly irked by the fact that I’m swimming in another fish bowl now, implied that I’m not likely to change conservative minds, because … in my writing ... “I have made most of [my hometown] out to be uneducated.” So, it’s time for clarification. I absolutely believe that Paul Ryan and Jeremy Hunt are smart enough to get it. And so is everyone else who still remains silent, despite being five+ years (and 150,000+ bullet-riddled bodies) post-Sandy Hook

They’re all smart enough to get the fact that mass shootings aren’t a thing in Japan (where Trump was when Sutherland Springs happened). They’re all smart enough to know that a “good guy with a gun” isn’t a reasonable solution to the uniquely American problem of gun massacres, because we don’t want our children to be in the middle of gunfights period.

I have no problem with their intelligence.

I have a problem with their morality.

Mortal jeopardy (or is it?), the home version

There are a lot of guns out there in the US. For whatever reason, as a nation we refuse to make guns difficult to buy or steal or otherwise acquire.

Apparently we mean to live with the thrill of uncertainty about the next person we run into - who may be armed, who may be having a bad day, who may be drugged or otherwise not in his or her right mind. Or who may be perfectly fine, or who may simply be a bit eccentric in looks, speech or behavior.

It's a high-stakes game, & you're always a contestant!

Gun control did not work that is what happened

The Shooter violated many Gun Control laws. the First was bringing a firearm on campus.

2nd thing that happened. Is that there were no armed teachers on campus.

Mass Shooters are crazy not stupid, they go to places where there is a absolulty no chance of resistance.

IF he has been properly trained I would certainly have no problem with that.

And it is just a coincidence that the shooter had attended this particular school as a student and apparently had a beef with them for being suspended?
Yeah, just a coincidence. The REAL reason was because it was located in a "No Gun Zone."
Sure, makes sense to me.

What would the possible outcome have been if there had been an armed teacher/principle on campus.

Assistant Principal Joel Myrick chased Woodham down outside the school, held him at bay with a Colt .45-caliber automatic pistol he kept in his truck in the school parking lot. He forced Woodham to the ground and put his foot on the youth's neck. "I think he's a coward," Myrick said. "I had my weapon pointed at his face, and he didn't want to die.
