Trump wants to start his trade war tomorrow

Quote:
President Trump wants to sign a presidential proclamation tomorrow to set his steel and aluminum tariffs in motion, according to two senior administration officials. (More on how proclamations work below).

The big picture: Trump is impatient and he wants to act — or at least be seen as acting. He got fed up with staff, especially Gary Cohn and Rob Porter, not giving him his tariffs on steel and aluminum. And some of Trump’s nationalist-minded advisers are telling him these tariffs will help turn out voters in the upcoming special election in Pennsylvania's 18th congressional district.
Lots of speculation that since the legal framework isn't in place, it won't work if he pushes something out that quickly.

But screw the country and its allies as long as it helps elect a few more sycophants.

The United Mine Workers will build a giant statue of Trump made of Iron and Aluminum. George Meany is rolling in his grave.

Its intersting the lefts reaction to the proposed tariffs because by in large the left has been very vocally in favor of tariffs against China and other countries. Now it is either quiet on it or flip flopped on it.

Very interesting.

It's more interesting you would bring up the left when this has nothing to do with them. This is all Trump. And only he will get any blame because of it.

It's also interesting that one minute the left are a bunch of antiamerican globalists, but now all of a sudden they are vocal protectionists.

So which one is it?

Indeed, very interesting. Trump ran on a protectionist platform. Very few Democrats voted for DJ.

Only Democrats tend to support free trade
Republicans tend to say free trade has been bad for America, and most support higher taxes on imports

By lying to the electorate, telling them what they wanted to hear rather than what the situation actually is.

Are they going to enjoy the loss of ~143,000 jobs in steel and aluminum?

Yeah, that's amazing isn't it. The states where union, and former union workers actually voted for Reagan, and both Bush's, and now Trump, and have the temerity to wonder where the industries in their states went.

You can't fix stupid. And in the case of those people it's a special king of stupid.

If it's one person I have no sympathy for it's a union or former union member from PA, OH or MI, that voted for Reagan, or any other Republican that lost their jobs.
Thanks from Camelot and Lyzza

You are mistaken. Union workers by majority follow the lead of the Union officials and vote Democrat. Surely you know this and are trying to be misleading. But the majority of the Union workers turned and voted for Trump this time and it is how he won those states.
