I can understand how SK is for this. They have no problem recognizing the north as a legitimate sovereign country. We don't. For a sitting US President to sit with them, is to do just that, legitimize them. Kim would have the appearance he is looking for. That border with South Korea isn't a international border between two legitimately recognized countries. It is a demilitarized zone as the result of a cease fire in an on going war that never ended. To give Kim that kind of recognition is pissing on the graves of every soldier that died in the effort to push the Chinese and complicit Koreans that chose to align with the communists and kill their own countrymen, to that line and save the rest of the country.

I better not ever hear the word appeasement come out of the mouth of a loud mouth right winger ever again if this happens.

South Korea doesn't want to reunite with North Korea. NK is too screwed up for them to try to save, basically 25,000,000 mostly hungry to starving peasant people, who have little education beyond propaganda. Imagine being a relatively wealthy modern country of about 45 million people, and then have to take in 25 million people with no money in rags with no discernible skills, who would crash their economy and social welfare system. It would just be a disaster and far, far more trouble than what it would be worth.

Look at when West Germany absorbed East Germany. East Germany was Communist with a repressive clunky Communist regime, but while the East Germans were poor and backward, at least some to most were educated and had a semblance of a standard of living. But it still cost the West Germans a fortune to unfuck up what Communism did, and absorb the millions of people, probably a lion share of them who moved to Western Germany for economic opportunity who worked for lower wages. I am not sure as a West German in 1990 that it would not have been better for East Germany to just continue being their own nation, with friendly ties and some economic help but not a complete absorption for many years until the East got up to speed and really wanted it. Austria is basically South Germany, and an independent nation. Do not have to be one nation with the same culture, religion and language.

Again, I would never talk to North Korean government. Again, they are just evil. Say what you want about George W. Bush but he was right when he correctly put North Korea in an "Axis of Evil". I mean, there are babies in their concentration camps for god sakes. The government there terrorizes their people, places whole families in camps for the misdeeds of one person, counterfeits American dollars, sells illicit drugs (meth), and forces their citizens to work under a non working on any level economic system. North Korea ran correctly would be a wealthy, prosperous nation, maybe even more so than South Korea. But Kim and his government are doing this shit for their own benefit and greed.

Why sit and talk to a criminal murderer who puts children and babies into homicidal work camps who sells meth on the open market who undermines our economy with counterfeit money? Fuck him. And China and Russia should be shamed for siding with this bastard regime.

OOPS! Looks like you forgot some not-so-little details & they're kinda important. They have nukes now. They have ICBM capability now.
