Because he has to once the strikes are approved and underway. He spoke as a General in the first case, not he has to speak as politician to support the Commander-In-Chief. Nothing has changed on the ground since he claimed there was no evidence that it was Assad.

At other forums that are much more military focused, we have been following the Syrian Civil War very closely, and Assad is on the verge of victory. The only real fighting left are basically between the rebels who want to take the government deal and those that don't. AQ and ISIS have on the most part left. The Russian fleet have left months ago. Why else would the US want to disengage unless there are increasingly a lack of enemy contact? And why the gas attack shortly after Trump talked about pulling out?

The attack? Consider another test of this President. Some have not accepted they are not dealing with another Obama, and his weakness nor his drawing red lines, only to back away.

Not what I said at all. Assad does not consider the rebels “his own people”. They want to send him to The Hague as a war criminal. I did not say the U.S. should not intervene. The necessary information is not available to form that opinion. We have representatives in Congress for a reason. There was no reason to rush a response. This situation should have been vetted by Congress.

Sending his troops into a battlefield littered with Russian assets to attack Assad without conclusive evidence that Assad was responsible would be a total betrayal of the very troops he leads.

I believe that historians will look back on Friday April 13th as the moment that Don the Con’s irrational impulses destroyed his presidency. He has announced that this Syrian action is going to be a sustained action. He will now claim that the Russia investigation is too much of a distraction at a time of war and he will fire Rosenstein and Mueller.

He has kissed Putin’s ass because Putin has compromising information on him. But, the heat of the investigation now ensnaring his lawyer has forced him to make a huge miscalculation. Putin will now determine that the political instability that dumping this compromising info is now more valuable than an untrustworthy Trump and he will dump that compromising info to the media.

Add to that the story that broke today that Mueller has evidence that Cohen traveled to Prague in August 2016 and met directly with the hackers and collusion is now undeniable. APRIL 13th - A FRIDAY - Remeber it.

More and more it looks that other than spending more multi-hundreds of thousand dollar cruise missiles they hit nothing.

But damn it was an impressive fireworks show.

And it did get Comey and Mueller off the front pages.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!!1!!!1!!

Do you think that Assad gassed his own people?

Do you approve of the US intervention in the Syrian civil war?

I can answer both of those things very simply

No

No

See how that works.?.

Yet you are the one cheering for and promoting it.

However that said, we only have advisors on the ground in limited areas. We do not have the assets in place to take real actions on the ground, nor do we want to. It will be very awkward if some American Special Ops and some Russian Special Ops end up killing each other.

We will hit them from the air. Despite Russian claims of shooting down our planes, we really have not that much to fear. We own the skies. The Russian fleet performance during the Syrian crisis was a joke to say the least. Their fleet never goes anywhere without an accompany of tugs. Even when they were there it was hilarious. The Russian fighters could take off from the carrier Admiral Kutyournutsoff with either fuel or weapons, but not both. Still the Russians managed to lose a Sukhoi when she ran out of fuel while waiting for the carrier to receive her.

Fighting Russia is easy, but what if it leads to a nuke exchange? Guys like you are bent out shape over Trump's confrontation with North Korea, but yet seem to think it is logical to poke the bear, the one and only challenger that currently have any legitimate response to our ICBM supremacy.
