Iowa governor signs 'fetal heartbeat' abortion ban into law

The bill to enact what is to be the most restrictive abortion law in the country has been signed by Governor Kim Reynolds. It outlaws abortions after a fetal heartbeat can be detected, usually around 6 weeks. As the article states, often a woman doesn't even know she is pregnant at that point.

Plus, the Governor admits it will be challenged in courts.

But the fundie menace rolls on.

I never worked or lived in Iowa but have though it many times going to other destinations. Iowa was where I saw my first tornado and Iowa is in the corn belt which makes us blood brothers. States Rights!

What a great idea! Force more children to be born into households that resent their birth.

AND into a political arena that cares more about a fetus than a living, breathing child who needs to be clothed, fed, educated and loved--a political party who regards women as chattel, used as incubators.

This law will be challenged at the Supreme Court level which is exactly what the GOP wants--another chance to toss Roe v Wade.

Iowa taxpayers will foot the bill. Abortions will continue. This bill accomplishes nothing.

Something tells me that these incubators your talking about are mindless, moral-free dweebs who have a real hard time with the word...NO!

Was anyone ever successfully prosecuted for this? Was anyone even put up on charges? I don't recall that any of the state attorney generals - & there was a general pitchfork & torches parade of AGs looking for people to prosecute, as I recall - I don't remember that any of them were successful.

Surprisingly poor outcome, given the hue & cry that this was a common occurrence, & the media splash in all the usual media outlets. Maybe the AGs were barking up the wrong tree?
Thanks from Lyzza
