Obama Alums: Why Not Expel US Diplomats | The Daily Caller

Quote:

Two former Obama administration officials suggested that America’s European allies should punish President Donald Trump for withdrawing from the Iran deal and levying additional sanctions on the Islamic republic.

The European Union and individual European countries are obligated to take aggressive steps to preserve the Iran deal, in order to avoid becoming Trump’s “doormat,” Steven Simon and Jonathan Stevenson argued in an op-ed that ran in The New York Times Thursday. Both Simon and Stevenson were directors on former President Barack Obama’s National Security Council (NSC).

“The European Union could, for instance, announce the withdrawal of member-states’ ambassadors from the United States. Isn’t this what states do when diplomatic partners breach solemn agreements, expose them to security risks and threaten to wreak havoc on their economies? That is, after all, what the administration is threatening to do by courting the risk of a Middle Eastern war and applying secondary sanctions to European companies,” they argued. “Depending on the American response, European capitals might even follow up with expulsion of American ambassadors.”

Edited for ancient history buffs. Roman Emperor Eagablus found or stole the Magic Stone and it is here today in the Grand Mosque of Mecca in the corner of the Kabala which they dance around and kiss on Muslim Day. The Magic Stone is a Meteorite.

Not an islamic scholar but, as ive read and listening too what Muslims have too say on the subject; essentially it boils down to a long bloody disagreement between the two is, who was Mohammed's true successor.

As opposed to the average democrat voter willingly dividing the country from within to protect their own interests and not the country's?

Stupid blanket statements are stupid.

that would be a blanket statement. what is the point of all this? nobody is trying to divide the country here according to that article..........

if you or anyone else wants to pull your hair out over an opinion piece, go ahead. just dont expect very many people to want to have a civil war because you got upset.......

Looking at the bigger picture. "IF" there is a US civil war part 2, future generations will look back and wonder when it was when we lost our marble's.
They'll be looking for blunt root causes, while ignoring the millions of slow burns between cause and effect.

Trump can't get the economic sanctions lifted against Russia. Congress won't let him. An effort that has been led by one Senator John McCain.

Trump used the nuclear deal as a way of helping out his BFF Vladimir, by pulling out of the deal, knowing it would have an impact on oil prices, having an immediate effect on the Russian economy.

If Trump imposes sanctions on European companies, the EU should immediately expel US diplomats, which would cause an immediate shockwave around the world, and would cause Trump to lose support from Republicans in Congress.

France and Germany could then impose sanctions on US goods, and buy from China, Korea, Brazil, among others which would further hurt growth, and put the US into a recession within a year, at the sametime fuel prices are steadily rising.

If Trump and his supporters think North Korea is going to pull him out of this, they are sadly mistaken.
