So now...China.

Why did Kim Jong Un recently harden his demands for the summit and stop working on plans for the Singapore meeting with White House and State Department officials? The answer, according to senior administration officials and outside experts, is China.

President Donald Trump hinted today that he had an idea why the North Korea summit went off track, telling reporters "the dialogue was good until recently, and I think I understand why that happened." He went on to joke that reporters could write about it in a book.

And this is from The New Yorker last September: At the center of the North Korean nuclear crisis is a pivotal question: How much is China really willing to pressure and punish its longtime ally in Pyongyang? Recent conversations in Beijing and Washington suggest that Chinese leaders have decided to increase pressure substantially but are not—and probably never will be—willing to help President Trump strangle North Korea into submission. China doesn’t trust Kim Jong Un—but it trusts Trump even less.

If this is true WHY does our president say things like this about Xi: “He’s now president for life. President for life. No, he’s great,” Trump said. “And look, he was able to do that. I think it’s great. Maybe we’ll have to give that a shot someday.”

Yup, that Republican President sure does love dictators. He usually sounds really envious of them too.

Maybe a step-by-step resolution

I figured that the US/N. Korea summit on N. Korea nuclear weapons was a long shot. It's good that N. Korea's nuclear test site has collapsed - that still doesn't fix the question of existing N. Korean nuclear weapons.

& it would have been good to get a formal finish to the Korean Conflict, I think it was called. Maybe further down the line.
