Trump Says Likely to Support Marijuana bill

Quote:
President Trump said he likely will support a congressional effort to end the federal ban on marijuana, a major step that would reshape the pot industry and end the threat of a Justice Department crackdown.

Trump’s remarks put him sharply at odds with Atty. Gen. Jeff Sessions on the issue. The bill in question, pushed by a bipartisan coalition, would allow states to go forward with legalization unencumbered by threats of federal prosecution.

Trump made his comments to a gaggle of reporters Friday morning just before he boarded a helicopter on his way to the G-7 summit in Canada. His remarks came the day after the bipartisan group of lawmakers proposed their measure.

Well what do you know? Even a stopped clock is right twice a day. Hopefully, he is sincere.

Equally well, lately if Sessions is for it, the Republican President is against it and vica-versa.

Why Pruitt keeps getting a pass is what I don't understand. Sessions knob-gobbles him more than Pruitt does.

Jeff Sessions hates pot smokers. Makes total sense to me why he supports it. Will guarantee his re-election if he does. Dotard wouldn’t miss an opportunity to stick it to sessions, make a buck, and help his re-election chances in on fell swoop. Makes me wonder if he got a call from John Bohner.

Legalize all drugs for recreational use. LSD is a mind bending experience when you do too much. LSD was called organic mescaline in Washington State and it was green powder that you ate thanks to a Marine. The old acidhead said when I was tripping, it's just pill. The acid trip in Washington State was a trip. We could not hitch a ride to the train station so I said do it like Laurel and Hardy and in unison. Then a guy in a pickup stopped and gave us a ride to the train station to get back to Seattle from Longview. We had to be back to Seattle the next day or we would miss movement which is punished by the UCMJ.

Nope, haven't touched the stuff in almost 30 years. It's illegal and my company does random testing.

However, if it does become legal, I may have a toke or two.

I just think the "war on drugs" is a total joke. Little more than a reason for our over militarized police departments to feed the never ending hunger of the "for profit" prison industry. In our best year we only stop about two percent (2%) of the drugs flowing into this country. The law is also very UNEVENLY applied. You're FAR more likely to get jail time for an offence if you're poor, or worse poor and brown, than if you're a middle class white person. The poor go to jail, even the modestly affluent go to rehab, get diversion and clean records.

I see a direct correlation between the violence of the current "war on drugs" and the prohibition years. The people that truly control the trade NEVER go to jail and get obscenely rich simply because the drugs are illegal.

Legalize, tax and regulate. Turn a TEN BILLION dollar per year DRAIN, the cost of fight the war on drugs, on our society into an income stream. Use the money to treat the addicts rather than sending them to prison.
