In the G-7 Furor, Trump Unwittingly Admits He Lied About Tariffs

As Trump went off the rails on his mission of alienating our closest allies, he tweeted:

Quote:
PM Justin Trudeau of Canada acted so meek and mild during our @G7 meetings only to give a news conference after I left saying that, 'US Tariffs were kind of insulting' and he 'will not be pushed around.' Very dishonest & weak. Our Tariffs are in response to his of 270% on dairy!
Note the last sentence. “Our Tariffs are in response to his of 270% on dairy!" That’s interesting, because Trump originally said that the tariffs were imposed because of national security concerns. So, he admitted that the whole national security thing was a lie.

This is significant because he needs the national security thing as a legal justification for his tariffs. A national security issue is the only thing that gives him the legal power to unilaterally impose tariffs.

Remember, Trump holds authority to impose tariffs on steel and aluminum because—and only because—of a Kennedy-era special exemption to normal trade law for national-security purposes. Trump has signed documents attesting that he imposed tariffs to protect vital defense interests of the United States.

So, not only has Trump lied to the public, he signed documents that he now has tacitly admitted were fraudulent. This is yet another impeachable offense. Where is Congress?

Let me set the scene for you, Tris. Trumpy and the gang are chatting about the G-7 in the Oval Office--prep team meeting. Trumpy says stuff like "WELL hells bells!! What am I supposed to say? What justification can I give for the tariffs?" Some smartass in the room jokingly quips: Just blame it on national security. Trumpy: Brilliant--that's YUGE. I'm surprised I didn't think of it first...ummm...I mean ..... I did think of that, but thanks for reminding me."

So let it be written. So let it be done. The American Dairy Association won't be sending Trump a Christmas card this year.

I still don't understand how slapping tariffs on security critical material helps us ??? All it does is make those material more expensive. And if a country really wanted to play hard ball they could simply say screw the tariffs, we'll just embargo those goods. You CAN'T BUY THEM.

An they're already having negative effect on jobs. With 250,000 jobs nation wide solar panels employ more people than coal and natural gas COMBINED. Trump tariffs on panels have put thousands of projects on hold.

Yes, it is true that solar for now employs more than coal and oil. That is only because of the construction to build new solar generation. Once they are built, those jobs go away. Its like the keystone pipeline. It employs thousands, until its built. So, yeah its true, but with a big ole *

Wearing a pink tie is an impeachable offense.
If you can get 67 Senators and a majority of the House to agree.
You can't get to 67 Senators, you can't even get a House majority.
It's a political act, there is nothing required to impeach, beyond a House majority, and nothing that requires impeachment.
