Change, Mexican style

He promises to demand respect from Trump. His party is four years old, and he founded it.

This election outcome helps to fathom the dislike Trump has engendered worldwide.

Quote:
Mexican populist López Obrador triumphs in presidential race

MEXICO CITY — Andrés Manuel López Obrador — a populist representing a left-wing political party that he founded four years ago — will be the next leader of Mexico, marking a major change for a country that has been led by the same two political parties for almost 90 years.

Mexicans on Sunday headed to the polls in the country’s largest-ever election with almost 90 million eligible voters and 18,000 open government positions. In the presidential race at the top of the ticket, López Obrador won with a message that he’d end violence, corruption and inequality.

López Obrador also gained support with a pledge he’d demand respect from President Donald Trump, potentially further straining U.S.-Mexico relations on everything from immigration policy to trade.

I'm definitely interested in what he's going to do with the police forces. I saw something the other day where the Army (? Maybe) arrested an entire town's police force. That's systemic and it takes a firm boot to kick it down.

Mexico is going to turn into Venezuela now. Socialism is a disease.

The man expected to be Mexico’s next president is considering a radical new approach in the country’s long-running war on the drug trade: amnesty.

Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, who has a wide lead ahead of Sunday’s presidential election, has said that if he wins he may push for a law allowing some nonviolent criminals to walk free.

“I will not rule out any option” to achieve peace, he said at a recent debate.
Should Mexico's drug war criminals be given amnesty?

Its about time that the peace loving cartel be given a rightful place to legally rule over area's they have killed for

We may need a cordon sanitaire.

How many Central American's are fleeing to Venezuela? Just saying, as socialism/communism blows up yet again. And yet some Americans want that sort of government here. We'll do it right, LOL.

And gotta love Mexico allowing all these illegals to cross through Mexico to reach our border and it is Trump straining the relationship. LOL What Mexico wants is a never ending flow of Latin Americans into America to make America a giant mess like much of Latin AMerica is, and has been since they got free of the European powers.

Stable governments are a rarity in Latin America, and violence is the norm. Bringing that violence here seems to appeal to the left. I wonder why. It was the left who got angry when Trump called MS-13 animals.

Huge Election Results In Mexico

Another big win for the progressive movement, and it wasn’t even close! Strong turnout provided Obrador with 53% of the vote, easily out-distancing his two rivals. The United States is now sandwiched between two nations with political cultures considerably to our left. I expect the new President will be a thorn in Trump’s side, and hopefully his rise will trigger more of the same in Central and South America.
