The 1st Ukrainian Division in WWII is also known as 14th SS Division Galizien. Eighty thousand men volunteered for this division, that is more enthusiasm than even German SS divisions.

Another Ukrainian unit rounded up Jews for the Final Solution. It was called Battalion Nachtigall.

I just finished watching a BBC documentary on Putin.

For some reason that escapes me, RTL has accepted the Russian - Putin's - version of history.

RTL overlooks or excuses Stalin's "Russification" of Crimea when Tatars were "relocated" in barren central Asia while Armenians, Bulgarians, and Greeks were forcibly evicted; the Holodomor, a "planned food shortage" designed to whip fiercely independent Ukrainians, primarily farmers, into the Soviet fold; and Soviet involvement in a bloody civil war fought in western Ukraine in the late 1940s and early 1950s.

The 1954 transfer of Crimea to Ukraine was a political power-consolidating move by Khrushchev, himself a Ukrainian.

The transfer of Crimea followed existing procedures established by Soviet law. The Russian Federation accepted the Ukrainian borders, which included Crimea, twice. First, Ukraine's borders were accepted in the 1991 Belovezhskaya Pushcha accords. Second, they were reaffirmed by the 1994 Budapest Memorandum.

He claims that Ukraine had announced a takeover of the naval base in Sevastopol, but I challenge him to provide a non-Russian source for that claim.

He invents the "Orange Revolution of 2011," wholly a figment of his imagination.

Mainly, he sides with the sinister Putin, a murderous, absolute dictator posing as an elected president, a position he shares with Trump. What you are calling "off the rails" actual is his SOP.

That was then, and this is now.

Two of my wife's best friends in Ukraine are Jews, one an engineer, and another the dean of English language studies at Kiev University.

Is there any Jew hatred in western Ukraine? Is there any black hatred in the American South?
Thanks from RNG and Clara007

Off hand, I'd be more concerned about the nazis who've taken over the Ukraine Government through Svoboda and the Azov Battalion now, then what their Nazi collaborators were doing back in WWII, such as attacks on Gypsies, Jews and other minorities in Western Ukraine today. There have been reports on their attacks on Roma camps outside Kiev this past year; the latest attack setting fire to a Roma camp caused at least one death....and I don't think any western media sources reported on it! What's worse is the gathering storm between two competing brands of nazified aryan fascism - Poland and Ukraine going head to head in a major war in the near future. Seems the Poles haven't forgotten Bandera's genocide against them at the end of WWII and ethnic cleansing from the present northwest sector of Ukraine....and that's another subject some Russians and others would like to bring up: if we look through the history, Ukraine today is the product of expanded borders in all directions: north, west, east and south. But, the unspoken assumption has been that they will have to forcibly remove all of the non-Ukrainians in the same manner if they ever get their wish and take back the Donbass, Crimea and a few western border enclaves like Transnistria, which declare themselves independent.

The next question is "why is the US and other western nations supporting Ukrainian fascists today:
https://therealnews.com/stories/ukra...racist-attacks

video from Real News Network:
Journalist Max Blumenthal asked why a fascist leader was welcomed in the US Senate building. He discusses Andriy Parubiy, the founder of two neo-Nazi organizations and the chair of Ukraine’s parliament, and the violent white supremacist movement against Russia

It is common knowledge for historians that follow WWII.

Then there is the SS Galizien Division. They were eager Nazi collaborators. Some 80,000 Ukrainians volunteered to join the SS but only those who could meet the strict requirements were selected.

That's like me buying 20 assault rifles and when I nearly bankrupt myself, start demanding that all my neighbors do the same, because I made the neighborhood safe.

It won't happen. Nobody asked the US to spend this ridiculous sums, except their own military industrial and otherwise lobbies.

With such ridiculous demands two things will happen:

1. The EU will try to make nice with Russia, which is the only threat to them

2. The EU will try to become independent from US weapon purchases, because it sees the extortionist tactics the US is using. It will simply stop buying weapons from the US.
