Education Thought For the Day

If scientists are working so hard to create artificial intelligence, why are our schools working so hard to create genuine stupidity?

great post.

Answer

Government is running the schools.

If people are ignorant, uninformed and distracted the government can control them much more easily

"Ignorance is Strength" (google it).

I really don't think that is the case. My youngest just graduated from HS and it seems he got a pretty good education. I was a bit disturbed to find my oldest grand-daughter had a young earth creationist for a science teach in 6th grade. She told them dinosaurs weren't real.

Schools are large, complex institutions designed to educate large numbers in a fairly narrow (and shrinking) range of subjects relatively superficially. This creates stress between administrators (who have to keep the place running and satisfy the pols) and teachers (who have to actually teach little Johnny something) who are trying to do their jobs as best the rules (and parents) will allow.

Personally, I think the problem with our educational system is mostly the parents followed by politicians and then contemporary culture with the message that education is a waste.

That seems odd, that a Young Earth Creationst would ssay that dinosaurs are not real.

I could see them saying that they were 65,000,000 years since they roamed the earth.

As far as most 6000 year doctrionalists, state the Behemoth is evidence of dinosaurs.

while I am a right wing bible thumping believer, I am not what is known as a "creationist", so I am hesitant to say anything in their defense. I am equally hesitant to believe anything an anti-religionist says about them.

i would love a discussion of the Behemoth (and the Leviathan) in my Book of Job thread.

Because schools are ruled by Teacher's Unions who care more about Teachers than they do about students!!!!

"When school children start paying union dues, thatís when Iíll start representing the interests of children.í Ē

Albert Shanker President of the American Federation of Teachers

"Despite what some among us would like to believe it is not because of our creative ideas. It is not because of the merit of our positions. It is not because we care about children and it is not because we have a vision of a great public school for every child. NEA and its affiliates are effective advocates because we have power.Ē

NEA General Counsel Bob Chanin

So that would mean that it is the Democrats fault, as the Unions time and time and time again, support only Democrat Candidates.

Guess that means the Democrats must hate Children, the support in the pudding!!!!
