Unfortunately, some parents refuse to handle their affairs regarding their children properly.

Years ago I had a neighbor with twin boys in the 3rd grade. They got suspended from school the SECOND time they teamed up on smaller girls on the playground. One of them would grab and hold the girl, and the other one would lift up her shirt or dress while they both yelled...'we want to see your titties'.

As far as their mother was concerned, the girls were 'getting her sons into trouble by tattling on them'. As far as the boys were concerned, their mother took their side so they could continue.

After they got suspended for their second assault, and after telling the principal that 'our mom said that you aren't in charge of us' she decided that their interest in 'titties' was normal so she let them examine hers.

As you can probably guess, this was only the tip of the iceberg regarding the behavioral problems with these boys.

I wish I could say that this reaction was over the top, but I can't.

That depends upon the history of behavior regarding this boy and how his parents plan to handle things.

Yes, but since it is now illegal to give him a full force backhand like my teachers used to, what option would you suggest?

It wasn't funny. it was either bullying or assault or both.

She should have hauled off and knocked the little jerk into next week right there in front of his buddies. She gets a harmless way to vent, and he gets an education. Problem solved.
Thanks from pensacola_niceman, Sabcat and coke

And what if he's bigger and stronger than her and decides to hit her back?

THEN she sues the crap out of him, or has him arrested for aggravated assault and battery. Put that situation in front of a jury and watch the result.
Thanks from coke

Why let it get to that point?

I understand the argument that 'kids will be kids' and if this had been an innocent kiss on the cheek from a boy at a younger age, I would feel differently.

But this is a thirteen year old. That's old enough to know better. The fact that he doesn't speaks to either what he has and has not been taught or the limits of the authority his parents have over him.

If parents are not going to teach their children proper limits, at what age and what level of unacceptable behavior does society step in.

If this incident had been passed of as 'no big deal' and then the next time he decided to force his tongue into a girls mouth, and then beat the crap out of her because she hit him.....people would be raising hell that something wasn't done the 'first time'.

If he did this on a "double-dog" dare, than it is ok.

The kid will get a slap on the wrist legally. Look at the opposite side of the argument. If teenage boys believe that their actions have no consequences, then that will create a lot of problems.
