Middle Schooler Charged With Assault for Kissing a Girl on a Dare

Oh my God! What is this world coming to?

A 13-year-old boy was charged with second degree assault this week near Baltimore for walking up to a 14-year-old girl and kissing her on a dare, according to Fox 10 TV in Marlyand.

The incident, which happened at the teens' middle school, has some people saying that the criminal charge was too severe a punishment for the unwanted kiss.

“I would let the parents get together and discuss it, you know, rather than getting the police involved. Let the school handle it first and then if the parents want to press charges, then there’s nothing else that can be done," one local told the station.

The Baltimore Sun described the situation from a police report, which definitely makes it sound worse.

A 14-year-old girl, an eighth-grader at Pikesville Middle School, told police Wednesday that a 13-year-old boy grabbed her by her shirt, pulled her toward him and "open-mouth kissed her with his tongue," according to police.
The boy was charged as a juvenile. It's unclear what type of sentence he could be facing.

Assault is assault. The kid should be suspended from school. That's if the girl's father doesn't get a piece of the creep first. Think Josh Duggar.

Years ago I was the Fireman at Indianola Middle School in Columbus, Ohio. We had coal fired locomotive style steam boilers to heat the school. The First Junior High School in the United States. Two girls got in a hair pulling and wrestling fight in the hall way. I did not intervene because I was a man and not faculty. The school girls gym teacher broke up the fight and wanted to know why I did not do it? It was not a fist fight so I only watched to see that nobody got hurt. Neither of the two school girls got expelled or even reported.

And this is why the U.S. keeps dropping internationally regarding test scores.

Having children arrested???

This is teaching people not to handle their own personal affairs.
Thanks from Jimmyb and coke

Don't you think arresting a 13 year old boy for this is a bit over the top?
Thanks from Sabcat

I agree this kid needs to be punished to show this behavior won't be tolerated. if it was just a peck on the cheek I would not think severe punishment was needed but when I read he grabbed her and stuck his tongue in her mouth I felt differently. I'm ambivalent about criminal charges by the police. that seems a bit extreme if this is a first offense. I would need to know more about this kid first. is he a cocky little prick who does this type of thing often? or is he a really good kid who was goaded into this by his friends and feels really bad about what he did? if it's the latter just a sincere apology and a short suspension would suffice. if he's a cocky little prick, call the cops and show him this behavior won't be tolerated.

I agree with you, but arresting the boy? Come on!
