The conversation that needs to be had on College campuses!

How Political Correctness Limits the Free Exchange of Ideas on Campus

It is about gosh d--ed time someone within academia tried to arrest the insanity going on in higher education. Not that my opinion matters much, but this an hour long video that is well worth watching if anyone has the time.
Thanks from Sabcat and Pilgrim

I had very close black friends before and they called me nigger even though I was white. I called them nigger back and they were not offended but I felt uncomfortable using that word and switched back to black that I felt comfortable with. They also called me player and was not sure what that word meant but it is a good word.

Political Correctness does no such thing.

Political Correctness taken to the EXTREME does that.

ANYTHING taken to the extreme is a bad thing.

It's been left unchecked and unchallenged for so long by the LW, what else were we too expect? The RW tried to point it out, but whoever wanted to listen to them?

This is what has been sown by a few and we all are reaping it now, aren't we?
Thanks from Sabcat and Pilgrim

I have no problem with other cultures unless they harm me personally. There are renegades in every culture and the wheat has to be winnowed from the chaff.

This isn't so much about culture as it is the disintegration of US higher ed.

Too late for that now. Maybe at first, but now it has to either be confronted and fixed or just wait for the reaper to come and do away with nearly the whole lot.

I only have a High School public education but have been taught in the school of hard knocks. I overcame my prejudice without going to stinking college.

That an interesting thought. Go to college and learn how to be prejudiced?

Uhhh....speechless here in AZ. So, you think that because someone, somewhere coined the phrase 'political correctness' that our college campuses have changed? How old are you and where in the world have you been living??
Have you missed all the protests? violence? Those exchanges of ideas?
Young people are idealistic, passionate, justice-prone. That hasn't changed ONE bit.
Thanks from tristanrobin and Lyzza

Yep. As someone who has spent a lot of time on college campuses this decade, I expect this to just be another idiotic thread of complaining and whining by people who either have never been to college, or haven't been on campus in decades.

Whatever.
Thanks from Clara007
