"Glory", 1989. Matthew Broderick, Denzel Washington, Cary Elwes. An excellent movie.

Glory was about slaves & former slaves serving with the Union and had absolutely NOTHING to do with the founding of Memorial Day.
You forgot an excellent roll played by Morgan freeman.

Yeah, forgot to list Freeman. My bad! Your right, it nothing to do with the founding of Memorial Day but, their contribution should always be honored. I especially liked Andre Brauger's character in the movie.
Thanks from Hollywood

Yes, it was a good movie, very moving. That movie made me a solid Denzel Washington fan in the same manner that Shawshank Redemption made me a Morgan Freeman fan.
I've met Morgan, real nice guy. He lives in Tunica County, Ms. near where my two youngest sons live and his wife was friends with one of my son's in-laws.
Thanks from caconservative and Toto2

I am just starting to trace my ancestry, as the subject is often too painful for most black people, including myself, but I do owe it to them to learn about them & keep everything about them alive. They've earned it. I finally know their names & birth dates, I'm back to the late 1800's, and I will be researching further to find what plantations they were on & maybe even, what slave ships may have had some of my ancestors.
We have the right to feel entitled. Entitled to respect, equality and humanity.

Finally an adult view.

He was amazing in Homocide and Men of a Certain Age.
