The difference is when a parent brings a child to church they ask me to teach them about the Bible. When a parent sends a child to college we do not ask them to turn our young men and women into brainless idiots, we do not ask them to brow beat our children for believing in something bigger than the ego of the professor.

Maybe so, but here (in the states) it is not compulsory. There in lies the difference.

But then again in many Islamic nations that progressive nations such as Canada are attempting to emulate religious dogma is law punishable by death. Maybe we will soon see such laws up there (bill M-103)

The effect of drugs on mugs is evidently serious. Your peasants have been convinced that Ignorance is Freedom, and that the ability to think renders you servile, whereas licking arses all day as they do makes you into new Einsteins! Weird! No wonder you've had to destroy Mexico to get such strong stuff through!

Freedom is correctly for Lutheran Christian.

Less Points for Catholic Christian.

Now, it is quite plausible to extend Public Education costs to Community College or to increase Stafford Loan funding toward Higher Ed., however I would point out that the USA has the overwhelming bulk of the best Universities in the world due to the business model employed. That is, on the one hand it "jacks up" costs of tuition & fees for students, on the other hand it creates a space for top-end research to occur, thus attracting some of the greatest minds in the World to the United States. Look at the international ranking system for Academia, the US absolutely dominates the competition:

What you said didn't address the problems of unavoidable education and there are several. All other modern countries have less expensive medical care, in part because their education for medical professionals is less expensive. It is not only the cost of a college education that is affected by our present high cost of education.

Besides not having enough college graduates in some fields, and excessive cost in fields like medicine, we have a social problem because we do not have equal opportunity. And perhaps the worst social problem is thinking education is only about money. Education is something we need as citizens in a democracy and education is something civilized human beings need. We most certainly should not put education beyond the reach of low-income people. Think about the harm being done by our present attitude that education is about how much we earn, and the value of a person is can be figured in dollars.

Just for the sake of argument, I must point out the laws of nature are much bigger than the ego of the professor. I think we are wrong to put so much faith in technology and our ability to develop it, that we do not respect the limits that nature imposes on us.
