Trump's 'wall' will be good at stopping the flow of... wildlife

A good reason why most countries support public....yes, I mean government-sponsored media, is because corporate sponsored media is at best, subject to what advertisers want to pay for/and at worst, censors information big monied interests don't want the public to hear! There's not much of a commercial market for science information and education, and that's why I'm glad we've had Quirks and Quarks on our CBC Radio up here for the past 40 years or so.

And yesterday, one of the stories discussed that caught my attention, was this one following up on earlier reports of harms to wildlife caused by fencing off sections of the US/Mexican border so far, and how a new, proposed 2000 mile border wall will cause greater devastation to mammals and birds which moved back and forth along migration corridors before humans and their petty issues became a hindrance:

Other segments discussed hazards of radiation to frequent flyers and newly discovered hazards of sleeplessness. The show's been a Saturday ritual for me since I was in high school many years ago.

I expected most people consider effects fences and a wall will have on wildlife to be minor stories....then again, I'm reminded that almost no economists of any stripe who rack their brains over competing economic theories and models, ever considers the simple fact that human economies depend first on resources available and how well the "natural economy" is functioning.

Cutting off migratory routes and placing already endangered species in line for total extinction, will have great effects on the environment that will take decades and centuries to fully realize! So, I see this story as one that is of greater importance than most of the crap that passes for news these days.
