Neil deGrasse Tyson's Most Important Words

"Science is a fundamental part of the country that we are," he says in the video. "But in this, the 21st century, when it comes time to make decisions about science, it seems that people have lost the ability to judge what is true and what is not."
That shift, he says, is a "recipe for the complete dismantling of our informed democracy".

Tyson's speech is interspersed with clips of political debates and news. The video cuts to a clip of Vice President Mike Pence, then a congressman, speaking on the floor of the House of Representatives.

"Let us demand that educators around America teach evolution not as fact, but as theory," Pence says in the clip.

I like Neil. He was talking about black holes and explained to young and old black Americans that calling it black is not disparaging.

Yesterday was Earth Day. It was ignored by many, but it was meant to remind us of the importance of environmental protection. A massive rally on this day in 1970 brought 20 million Americans together to fight industry pollution, toxic dumping, pesticides and the countless mindless acts negatively impacting our environment. Today we call this event Earth Day.
We are surrounded by beauty and yet we often take it for granted--our national parks, soaring mountains--our farm country--sparkling rivers and lakes. We have so much to be thankful for but what are we doing to protect Mother Natures many blessings?
Here's what President Trump had to say:
Even Trump's Earth Day message was anti-science
Thanks from Hollywood

I plumb forgot about it and celebrated Earth Day by taking my pickup truck to the automatic car wash.

Beats me. Trumps earth day statement was pragmatic and sensible.

Symmetry is anti-science which is the Standard Model. The opposite of the electron is the positron and the opposite of the proton is the anti-proton, etc.
Thanks from Hollywood

Science is the us is corrupted. Dissent is stifled when questioning is essential. Conformity is strictly enforced. Money and politics drive the results of studies with even lip service barely being paid to striving for objectivity.
