Asian Carp

Found in water past the electronic barrier designed to keep them out of Lake Michigan.

Trump is cutting the funding to control this invasive species. Which would work out if Michigan would get together with the other Great Lakes states and Canada and raise the money to do the job. It's stupid to sit around like liberal ninnies waiting for the Feds to fix this.
Thanks from Sabcat

Wouldn't cutting the funding for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative affect how much money was able to be spend on controlling carp?

If the carp have been found past the barriers then it is already too late. Sad but true. It was inevitable.

Australia has released a herpes virus to deal with the Asian carp problem. The government says contamination is not an issue. But fresh water fisherman are not convinced there livelihood will not be decimated.

The electronic barrier that is supposed to keep the carp out of Lake Michigan apparently has no back up power, so any interruption of electricity is an immediate threat to a nine billion dollar fishing industry.

It has been 50 years since I fished creeks and rivers in Ohio. There were American Carp that invasive Asian Carp will prey on. The only special species of Rainbow Darter in the world lives in Big Darby Creek which are protected will be goners for sure. Asian Carp farms on the Mississippi River started it.
