This is what our socialist friends do not understand. I do not know anyone who would not like to see fossil fuels replaced it is just that it is not an economicly sound move just yet. But hey, people like elon love all of this propaganda.
Tesla had a higher stock value than GM. Even though GM had record profits and Tesla was losing or just breaking even. The amount of government subsidies given to Tesla was the reason why. Free enterprise is just an illusion

Don't worry, elon is siphoning his chunk off. Tesla is not a viable investment right now. Most people I know got out of it already. We will see what happens w/ the 3. If they can make that happen on time and w/o glitches they may save a little face. It is all smoke and mirrors.

Though I almost put a deposit on a 3 when they first came out. Even though they were/are fully refundable i just couldn't talk myself into it.

I am guessing as full of technology as they are they will rapidly depreciate, more so than the average new car.

We are going to get off petro and carbon based fuels. But its not going to be trillions of government money being pissed away that causes it. It will be supply and demand. The reason oil is so low now is because the demand is lower. As new technologies emerge it will lower the demand even further. The government pissing away trillions has nothing at all to do with that. Its all about competition in a pseudo free market. You burn coal to make electricity. I make electricity with a wind turbine. I can bring my product to market cheaper than you can.

It is so funny that the "intellectual elites" cannot see that.

Ok, really it is sad because it is the taxpayers who are being taken for a ride so they can pat themselves on the back as they wash away a little bit of white guilt.

There is a new Tesla store close to my house. I went in and looked around. The SUV was impressive. The salesman gave me the rundown. It will seat seven easily. The windshield goes up and over the top of the car. The doors go up. The doors adjust if something is next to the car and they adjust as they go up. The computer in the car was bigger than a laptop. Two options on batteries: 250 miles and 330 miles. It takes all night for a full charge on AC, but Tesla has quick charge stations that will give a half charge in 20 minutes. It is DC.
Thanks from guy39, Sabcat and Twisted Sister

They are beautiful machines but there are a lot of cars I would spend $80k on before one of them. Furthermore IMO American people should get a significant discount as it is our tax dollars that are propping them up. As it stands now they do not sell enough cars annually to be a viable company. The 3 may change that as they are supposed to be $35k for a base but I'm guessing that will end up closer to $50k once they are optioned. That is way out of the price range for the average American. BMW is set to release an all electric 3 series to compete w/ it.

Oil is 45 dollars a barrel and Europe is going to use solar power to run their cars. I cannot think of anything more ridiculous. Wait I can. Invite millions of Muslims into your country as they mow you down with trucks and bombs.

And we are supposed to follow Europe's lead? I don't think so.

ignoring the overwhelming evidence of global warming and continuing to pump greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere i cannot think of anything more ridiculous.
