Joel Osteen likes the money and his $10.5 million dollar house but he isn't so wild about those there Christian principles. Some tweeted commentary for your reading pleasure;

Joel Osteen won't let his megachurch be used to help Houston's flood victims. Maybe I shoulda put something in the Bible about this.

Eugene Gu, MD‏ Verified account @eugenegu
Joel Osteen's megachurch is designed for the rising tithe, not tide.

Doug Keegan‏ @doug_keegan
H-Town, let the record show that Mattress Mack opened Gallery Furniture as a shelter but Joel Osteen kept doors of Lakewood Church closed.

Michael, still here‏ @Home_Halfway
Joel Osteen is to Christianity what Trump is to morality.

The hater Camelot.

Quote:
Joel Osteen's 17,000-seat Lakewood Church in Houston isn't opening its doors for rescue efforts because floodwaters just won't allow it ... according to the church.

The mega-televangelist is catching flak for tweeting about his hometown flood, but not doing anything to help out -- especially because his megachurch could shelter thousands of people displaced by the rising water.

Church officials say this one's out of Joel's hands though -- and point out the streets surrounding the church are already so flooded ... Lakewood is inaccessible.

The church used to be the Compaq Center sports arena, and sits along a highway ... part of which is currently under water. The floodwater wasn't clear in a photo tweeted Monday morning.

Everything is surrounded by water in Houston. That hasn't stopped churches, mosques, community centers and even a furniture store from opening as shelters. Osteen is just a pathetic money grabber.

Camelot is the Number 1 hater on DTT.

Quote:
To be entirely fair to Osteen here, HuffPo noted that "Lakewood Church has previously helped with relief efforts in the city, most recently hosting a benefit concert in 2016 after heavy flooding," and "in 2001, the church sheltered roughly 5,000 Texans displaced by a tropical storm."

Ministry spokesman Donald Llof says that the property, though intact, is inaccessible due to surrounding flood waters on the roads, saying that the George R. Brown Convention Center is better equipped to help victims.

It's too bad we haven't heard from our own members who are being affected by the storm as was the intention of this thread.

Lakewood Church apparently bought countless air mattresses and are prepping to open their doors. Took a while but good news.
