Storms are getting stronger - NASA

Human caused global warming has increased temperatures in the oceans, particularly the sea surface temperatures, and in the atmosphere. This has resulted in oceans that evaporate more water into the air, and higher temperature air that can hold more water vapor.

Water temperatures at the oceans surface determine just how powerful tropical storms and hurricanes can get. As sea surface temperatures rise, as they have been (the Atlantic is a degree or two Fahrenheit hotter than it usually is this time of year), hurricanes get stronger, the storm grows to a larger size and the wind speeds increase, which, when combined with the current higher water vapor levels, results in monster storms like Harvey and Irma, that dump record amounts of rainfall and cause severe flooding, in addition to all of the other damages that higher wind speeds and higher storm surges (due to sea level rise) cause. The damages also now extend over larger areas, because the storms are larger.

This is basic science, no matter what idiocies the reality deniers come up with to try to explain it all away.

LOL

No Category 4 or 5 made landfall in CONUS for 12 years.

Harvey was stalled, no upper level winds to move it along. That is why it was such a rainmaker.

Boo!

Climate change is evidenced by more than just hurricanes that hit land. There a hurricanes that don't hit land. There are droughts and long periods of extreme temperatures that are zapping fresh water sources and fueling record setting fires all over the globe. There is the melting permafrost in Alaska. The list goes on and on for those that choose not to make the science a political shitfest.

Really how long as the climate been changing, Few Billion years.

if the climate DID NOT change life on earth would end.

all the waters would be in the ocean. no replenishing of fresh water tables.

Climate history for 400,000 years

notice the sine wave pattern.. warm cool warm cool warm cool,, occurring at regular intervals.

notice the waves are the current climate is the coolest warming period of the 5 warming periods over the last 400,000 years.

A bunch of bologna. If we had a bunch of hurricanes over the past 8 years the report would be GW has caused increased quantity of Hurricanes. If it fewer it would just be ignored. Just as the lack of no Hurricanes making landfall did not cause the reporting of decreased frequency. Its always prediction caused by GW and then after it does not turn out that way a moving of the goal posts. Pathetic.

4,323 days Major hurricane drought. That is climate

1 year is weather.

increase in solar activity this year. Current sunspot cycle activity, space weather, solar storm and geomagnetic conditions and radio propagation forecasts
