Are Bees Dying?

No, bees are not dying out. No, their populations are not being harmed by neonicotinoid pesticides. No, farmers are not wiping out all the wildflower meadows which allow insects to flourish.

But this is not something you ever hear about it in the media, obsessed as it is with the doom narrative fed to them by green activist bodies like Friends of the Earth.

That’s why I heartily recommend the excellent speech that Matt Ridley has just given in the House of Lords:
Delingpole: ‘Bees In Peril’ Is Just Another Green Lie
by James Delingpole
22 Jun 2018

Delingpole: No, Bees Aren't in Trouble
Delingpole’s article reminded me of the “Killer Bees” scare tactic. Remember that one? Environmental parasites trotted out African Killer Bees about the time the Soviet Union was imploding. Back then I was not familiar with the United Nations economic refugees crisis when environmental freakazoids were flocking to the U.N. In recent years U.N. refugees from Africa scare me a lot more than ever did bees.

The implosion of the Soviet Union hurt American Communists, and hurt them badly, but that did not stop the comrades from continuing their drive towards absolute government control of the oceans and the atmosphere; hence, their stepped-up drive to promote U.N. omnipotence through the environmental movement, through so-called peacekeeping activities, through the World Court, etc.

Aside from the anti-Vietnam War demonstrations organized by American Communists there was no other cause that attracted so many of the “worst generation’s” Communists as did the environmental movement. Since the Soviet Union’s implosion, the environmental movement attracted Communism’s most ardent supporters looking for a new home. There again, the dynamic between true believer and charity hustler exists. All of their hopes for America’s submission to global government reside in climate change scare tactics.

Rachel Carson’s fanciful tale Silent Spring was published in 1962. Silent Spring was the start of the environmental movement as it is known today.

The United Nations along with every environmental nut job and two bit hustler jumped on Silent Spring like hogs take to slop. The truth is: DDT is not hazardous contrary to the hysterical claims made by environment screwballs.

The environmental movement is Communism’s best shot at world domination through the U.N. The “I care” crowd claim the economy should serve the environment, or variations on that theme. The hypocrites give the impression that money is not the name of their game, when getting their paws on tax dollars is all they think about. They want the rest of us to believe they are willing do with less in order to save the environment.

The unlucky folks living in Communist countries are used to doing with less; so maybe our American Socialists/Communists are preparing us for the same hard times. If they get their way they know that the only Americans who will get more are the people who live on tax dollars.

As far as the environment goes: Mother Nature does not need assistance from environmental “I care” freeloaders interfering with her way of doing things.

A scare tactic is a tried and true method for enriching the parasite class. Upon arriving in Congress, every Democrat is tested by the old guard. The first question is: What good is a crisis if you cannot fix it with tax dollars? Newcomers who fail to answer that question correctly, and sincerely, are never invited to dine with powerful elitists.

To Democrats, scare tactics combined with their interpretation of the moral high ground is a sure thing. The moral high ground by itself often fails to convince the public that tax dollars are required to fix this, that, or whatever it is Democrats are fixing. The moral high ground never fails when it is married to a scare tactic. The result is that big government insiders get fat on tax dollars —— leaving the country buried under another piece of totalitarian Socialist morality.

Attention-getting scare tactics never go away. Nuclear war is the one and only long running crisis that scares the hell out of leading Democrats. They are truly afraid that they might get their sorry asses blown to nuclear hell right alongside the people they have been screwing since 1945.

The more I looked at the Killer Bees scare tactic the more I understood the techniques charity hustlers developed over many centuries.

The history of the Africanized honey bee has been well documented (Winston, 1992; Rinderer et al., 1993; Schnieder et al., 2004). Several mated queens were imported to Brazil from Africa in 1956 to breed a honey bee that was well-suited to a tropical climate. At that time, Brazilian honey production was very low because the European honey bee (EHB ) is better adapted to a more temperate environment. The goal was to produce hybrids that exhibited the foraging success of African bees while maintaining the gentleness of European bees. The inadvertent escape of the African queens established a feral population of “Africanized” hybrids that, unfortunately, retained most of the unfavorable traits of their African ancestors.
NOTE: It was a tragedy when Hillary Clinton escaped. President Hillary Clinton was the only Queen Bee I was ever afraid of.

The AHB spread at a remarkable rate (Figure 1), upwards of hundreds of miles per year. As the population grew, it expanded its range outward from São Paulo south into Argentina and north through Central America and Mexico. In its wake, the AHB severely hampered the apicultural industries of Brazil, Venezuela, and Panama, and forever changed beekeeping practices in Latin America. Moreover, the AHB gained its “killer bee” moniker because of its increased defensive behavior, and became known as a serious public health issue in the Americas.

Although stinging incidents of humans, livestock, and domestic animals have increased in Africanized areas, the annual human mortality due to bee stings remains lower than lightning strikes. Stinging incidents aside, the major significance of the AHB in the United States will be within the apicultural industry. Professional beekeeping in the United States maintains strong ties to the southern third of the country due to its mild winters and longer foraging seasons. Migratory beekeepers annually overwinter their colonies in the southern states, then pollinate various crops as they move northward as the seasons change. Queen and package production is also concentrated in California and the southern states to supply the rest of the country with commercial stock in the early spring. These industries will be impacted severely by the AHB if tight restrictions are placed on the movement and shipment of honey bees.

The Africanized honey bee was first detected in the United States in 1990 in south Texas (Figure 2). For three years, their distribution was confined to the southern part of that state. In 1993, however, the AHB was detected in Arizona, and by 1995, they were detected in New Mexico and southern California. The bees then spread north, and by 1998 they were found in Nevada. In every state where they became established, the bees continued their migration northward over the next few years. By 2004, the bees had migrated through Texas and were detected in the southern most counties of Oklahoma.

For reasons that are yet unclear, the eastward spread of the AHB stalled in Texas for many years. This unexpected hiatus in home-range expansion was hypothesized to be a result of climate or other ecological factors. Nonetheless, by 2005 the AHB expanded eastward from Houston. Most recently, the AHB has become established in western Louisiana, southwestern Arkansas, and southern Florida (Figure 2). It remains unclear how the AHB entered Florida, given the lack of positive AHB findings along the gulf coast, thus it seems likely that the bees were independently introduced on cargo ships through commercial shipping ports.

Who in the hell was talking about killer bees. As for other kinds of bees, yes they are. Will they be completely wiped out? I don't know. But in a documentary I saw about it, they showed one area in China where they no longer exist. They showed one person who owned some sort of orchard. By hand he had to pollinate the blooms on the trees.

Bees that are native to the United Stares (of which the honeybee is NOT one) are indeed in peril. They are definitely being out-competed by honeybees whether they are Africanized or not.

You folks have a real talent for standing reality on its head. No wonder you support the alternative facts president. He figured you guys out. He knew you'd believe anything he said as long as it tore into Obama, Democrats, and/or liberals. He knew you'd never do any deep research.

You folks not only are an enemy of the US, you're an enemy of planet earth and every living plant or animal on it.

I'm sure if the anti-science RW blogs say the bees aren't dying out, then it MUST be true. Those publications are beacons of honesty and moral integrity, as we see from Pizzagate.....

The right has been at war with Planet Earth for a long time now! Problem is they're winning the war!

The liberal establishment isn't doing a whole hell of a lot to stave off our collective extinction..aside from do a few good deeds like put up solar panels and pretend the problem is solved, but the right is about pure nihilism...they don't care if everything's destroyed, as long as they can live high on the hog for a short time!

I believe this attitude comes from the evangelicals. They are convinced the rapture is going to happen any day now. The reason they are such supporters of Israel, and more importantly, not just want, but hope and pray for Israel to start a nuclear exchange with say Iran, is they believe it heralds the Armageddon. They believe they can induce the second coming of Jesus. The result is, they don't give a shit about the planet. They could care less if we destroy the entire environment, because they think they and their children and/or grandchildren won't be here long enough to worry about it.

I find it highly ironic that so many so called Christians point to all the wonders of nature, the mountains, the oceans, the forests and all the animals occupying the planet as evidence of intelligent design/creationism yet turn around and DESTROY those wonders of God's creation with absolutely NO REMORSE. Because they believe the rapture is any day now. They, their children, their grandchildren, or even great grandchildren won't be here long enough to have to deal with the mess they've made of the planet.

Yes, if this life is just a shadow of better things to come, and this world is just practice for a better, more glorious world after we die, then why not treat this world like it's toilet paper to wipe our collective asses with!

I think the problem goes a little deeper than end times theology though, since..by my reading of the source material, the world's major monotheistic religions didn't develop until our ancestors were stuck with full time farming after having to leave the easy life in the forests. They created the monotheistic gods, who are all powerful and completely separate from nature. Soon, the goal of life in this world is for people to separate themselves from this world also.

There is a reason why Garden of Eden myths of being cast out of an idyllic past to toil the land had such a strong hold on people! When working the land is organized by elite classes who do little of the actual work themselves, that separation from nature, provides the illusion of having complete control over the process of providing food...something their ancestors..who had to develop a deep knowledge of natural cycles and what and what not to eat, could never fathom!

To an economist in modern times, nature is just a collection of raw materials that have no value until people exploit them and make something with them.

But, once again, the lunatic fringe on the right goes the next step: from indifference to the value of nature, to setting the goal of its complete destruction.

To BubbaJones: The attitude —— and problem —— began with busybody freaks telling everybody how to behave so they can go to heaven after they die. Evangelical environmentalists are the worst kind. They tell everyone how to behave without a offering a reward in the hereafter.

In case you have not noticed it —— evangelical environmentalist are exactly like organized religion’s parasite priests. They all want to be paid for forcing their morality on everybody with one exception. Evangelical environmental parasites are paid with involuntary tax dollars, while religion’s priests have to get voluntary donations from true believers.

Parasites are always looking for a new scare tactic. It will not be long before parasites swear the universe is in danger and tax dollars is the only way it can be saved for posterity. In fact, this old movie hinted that mankind could destroy the universe:

To BubbaJones: Evangelical environmentalists insist that the rest of save every insect, fish, bird, and tree in addition to regulating the atmosphere’s temperature for future generations.

I have never met an environmental freakazoid who wanted to save individual liberties for posterity.

I have never met an environmental true believer who did not start preaching about saving this, that, or the next thing the minute they smelled an opening. Many years ago I met one who went on and on about saving a few patches of dead coral reef because it took nature millions of years to make them. He swore they were objects of beauty. I swore they looked like rocks. The truth: Environmental addicts are not interested in saving rocks or roaches; they insist on saving the world for posterity, even when it does not need saving.

To BubbaJones: Frankly, I do not give a flying F about the planet now or after I depart. The only reason I care about liberty is because the most freedom from government tyranny is best for my descendants far into the future who will inherit a planet that will be pretty much the same it is today. Earth getting hit by a king size meteorite is the only way this planet will undergo a major change.
